“A possible condition with your Engine Control System has been detected with your 2022 TUCSON”

Got this message at ~1,500 miles on my ‘22 Tucson SEL. The check engine light, and sometimes the check oil light as well, appeared.

When only the check engine light is on, there are no noticeable issues. But when the check oil light is on too, the acceleration of the vehicle is drastically decreased! Like 0-60 mph in about 20 seconds

The dealership said they could service the vehicle at the earliest 4-5 weeks out! I pushed the issue and was able to get it in in 2 days. They said they fixed the problem by doing a “software update”(?).

Just 1 month and 1,500 miles later, the same exact issue has arisen — same error message, same dampened acceleration when both the check engine and check oil lights are on.

The dealership is again telling me they can’t service it for another 4-5 weeks. They seem unconcerned that my brand new vehicle is having this issue twice in a month. I am in the process of trying to get it serviced ASAP, and will update with any developments.

Any insights/comments/suggestions about this situation?

Yikes - that is pretty crappy. 4 to 5 weeks - WTF.

Please keep us updated
Update: I was able to get a service appointment this week, only after pushing the issue with the Service Manager. Initially, the regular service representative repeatedly insisted 4-5 weeks away was the earliest availability. After several calls on subsequent days, I finally got through to the Service Manager, who arranged the earlier date.

More importantly, I will provide an update on the vehicle after it’s evaluated on Wednesday. This problem with the Engine Control System for a brand new vehicle could just be a one-off, or it could be a more widespread issue.

I had same issue with check engine light after making my first car payment. And I was on vacation. The part has to do with aerodynamics. Here’s what’s on order DTC P059A00 Active Airflap Position Sensor. It’s in behind the grill.

Please provide an update here if the issue is resolved. I'm having some issues with my 2022 Tucson Hybrid (just 2000+km) and multiple incidents have happened: warning lights would turn on and instruct me to check the forward safety system and lane-keeping safety system. One time it said, "check hybrid system" and the hybrid system warning light turned on. The errors came up usually when I was braking the car and at the same time, the car would stutter or tremble a bit and it felt like the engine or the hybrid system was having problems stabilizing the car.

Update #2: There is an inherent problem with the engine that requires the engine to be replaced!! They found that it was burning through oil at an alarming rate. I don’t have the specifics yet, but that is the gist. It will take several weeks for the repair to be completed …

Needless to say, I am so disappointed with this vehicle and Hyundai as a whole. An engine replacement on a brand new vehicle is unacceptable and should be a concern to anyone looking to buy this car.

Hey John, thanks for the update. Is your Tucson a hybrid one or a pure gasoline one? Is this a one-off case or there could be similar problems with many other cars produced by the same factory?

Pure gasoline.
Hopefully for everyone, mine is just a one-off case.

Well my 22 SEL, Just popped this error code this morning.... So I guess I have a motor in my future.... Wtf...

I'm waiting on the wife to get home right now so I can do an OBDiI scan on it and see what pops up.... My wife is going to lose her mind if they say it needs a motor... And they said they can't look at it until Nov. 1st....wth
Here's the code that caused the error.... My scanner cannot clear it. So I guess it's going to the dealer.... Hopefully it's just a bad sensor ..

I have 2022 Hybrid Blue and got the same message on Bluelink. Went to dealer and they checked it immediately and said it was the coolant sensor. We just had a temperature drop. They have ordered a replacement but that was two weeks ago and still waiting. BTW, I only had the car for a week when it happened. It hasn't happened again. I've not done anything major trips yet.

Have the issues on your Canadian Hybrid been solved? If so, what was the cause? What trim is yours?

Thanks!

Thanks!
The service department called several days ago saying the issue was a faulty ABS pump. Trim is Hybrid Luxury. I'm on a loaner car right now. They said the ABS pumps are in a global shortage right now and there's a long backorder. They couldn't provide an ETA for the replacement ABS pump... Well first of all, I hope what they said is true because the first 2 times they couldn't figure out the root cause; second of all, I hope the ABS pump comes sooner...

Are you having the same issue with your tucson?

I just got the same message pop up on my 22 Tucson today. Has about 1900 miles and I’ve had about 4 weeks. I’m so furious. Brand new car and the check engine light is already on.

I just got this same message today. at first they told me it was a automatic message since I was at 5K but when I called back they said I needed to bring it in and as long as the engine light wasn't flashing I should be okay to wait 2 weeks for my appointment. Oh my goodness just to much for me.

How did you make out?
Wife was driving kids back from dinner tonight and I received a message from Bluelink to bring car in due to "possible condition with engine Control System has been detected". Check Engine light is on. Appointments at 2 local dealerships are available in 1-2 months. WTF!! Never encountered appointment backlog. Will bring car in regardless.
