“A possible condition with your Engine Control System has been detected with your 2022 TUCSON”

Got this message at ~1,500 miles on my ‘22 Tucson SEL. The check engine light, and sometimes the check oil light as well, appeared.

When only the check engine light is on, there are no noticeable issues. But when the check oil light is on too, the acceleration of the vehicle is drastically decreased! Like 0-60 mph in about 20 seconds

The dealership said they could service the vehicle at the earliest 4-5 weeks out! I pushed the issue and was able to get it in in 2 days. They said they fixed the problem by doing a “software update”(?).

Just 1 month and 1,500 miles later, the same exact issue has arisen — same error message, same dampened acceleration when both the check engine and check oil lights are on.

The dealership is again telling me they can’t service it for another 4-5 weeks. They seem unconcerned that my brand new vehicle is having this issue twice in a month. I am in the process of trying to get it serviced ASAP, and will update with any developments.

Any insights/comments/suggestions about this situation?

I just got the same message pop up on my 22 Tucson today. Has about 1900 miles and I’ve had about 4 weeks. I’m so furious. Brand new car and the check engine light is already on.
Hi Cdprock12 - I got same error message with my 2022 Santafe which has just 500 miles on it and I had it for 6 weeks. It is sitting in my dealers parking lot waiting for the parts to arrive. Service personal says it a ‘Fuel injector’ issue and they are waiting on the parts from Hyundai without any ETA. It’s been over 15 days now.

can you please let me know if your vehicles issue is resolved and is back?
Hello Friends,

Like most of you, I received the same error message “A possible condition with your Engine Control System has been detected. A full system check is recommended to be done soon. Please contact your local dealership to schedule an
appointment.

Mine is a 2022 Hyundai SantaFe Limited Edition with just 500 miles on it and purchased on April-21-2022. The error message popped up on June-02-2022. I took the vehicle immediately to my dealership team and they looked at it the following day and said, it’s because of a faulty ‘Fuel Injector’.
Since then they are waiting on the part from Hyundai and seems there is a shortage. They said they can’t do anything other than waiting for the parts to arrive.

it’s really disappointing and frustrating to see a brand new vehicle is having these issues. I do not understand how these vehicles passed the basis QC test by Hyundai team.

considering these are brand new vehicles with just few Hundred/thousand miles on them, what options do we have with replacement or refunds or exchange or any other alternatives?

Wow same same message appeared on my leased 2022 Tucson Limited yesterday 06/17/2022. The vehicle ony has 1088 miles and was leased on April 16, 2022. I did notice when coming from the grocery store on Friday, June 16th that immediately after starting the car made a grinding whistling noise taht stopped when I put the car in drive. Then after driving a few miles on yesterday after the "possible condition with engine Control System has been detected". Check Engine light is on" appeared I was pulling away from the light and although the wheels kept spinning there was grinding sound. I spoke with my salesman and he said to bring it it on this coming Monday. Oh no not me... I took it in for servicing at first light this morning. Turned the car off from 7 am to opening 7:30.When the service door opened and I restarted the car Check Engine light was off also the powertrain message was gone. I explained the situaton to the service advisor and was told they had 90 cars with appointments and they could not get me today; leave the car or come back Monday no one here today has the knowledge to work on the problem. Nope Not Me... I explained that I was not comfortable driving the car. I would leave the car but needed a loaner. He said no loaner was available. My reply... sure you have a loaner, there are plenty of cars here...loan me one of those Genesis SUVs. He told me those not a loaner... Bring the car back Monday. I stuck to my guns to not leaving with this car, not walking home, not calling anyone for pick up. I guess you from this point there was a 60 second stare down, then I spoke these words This is not my car, its you guys car, I am just leasing it. At that point he said he speak to manager and 5 minutes later wah la ...they had a loaner to give me. Now here is where it gets slimey... he presented loaner paperwork and the service request paperwork. I guess he did not think I would read it. His service request read " customer said check engine light came on and is not on at time of service request" is all that was there. No mention of the "possible condition with engine Control System has been detected". I whipped out my phone and and wrote the reference number, time, date and details of the message on the request. He kinda looked like she sahe has some nerve but he also told me that a lot of times the service message is wrong. Uh huh yeah, sure it is. Like many of you I have bought or leased a few new cars over the years and never has check engine light come on so soon if at all. This is beyond unbelievable. What he didn't know is that I had called Hyundai yesterday and had the warning message put on my file and had them email the acknowledgement of the receiving the complaint to my personal email. The loaner is substandard to what I am driving but I will deal with that issue when I call corporate early Monday. Since I am not buying the vehicle I am going to request a refund of deposit and a ride to Lincoln, Volvo or Acura to lease from them. I am also requesting a face to face with the owner of the dealership or I may wait to see what kind of BS they try to sell me regarding the repair. But they have to be mindful that it their car, NOT MINE. I wish everyone experiencing this problem good luck with the resolve. But in this case ....They may have to lemon their own car

Wife was driving kids back from dinner tonight and I received a message from Bluelink to bring car in due to "possible condition with engine Control System has been detected". Check Engine light is on. Appointments at 2 local dealerships are available in 1-2 months. WTF!! Never encountered appointment backlog. Will bring car in regardless.

Do you have an update? This just happened to mine last night. Calling them when they open.
Guys i had this same issue and I changed my battery and it’s been running well. Just wanted to throw that out there in case it could help anyone.

I had the same issue when i took it to the dealer they had no idea what the problem was. They did everything even got in contact with corporate and spoke to the engineers and still they couldn’t fix the issue. Now corporate is doing a buy back. The car is a lemon.
Update #2: There is an inherent problem with the engine that requires the engine to be replaced!! They found that it was burning through oil at an alarming rate. I don’t have the specifics yet, but that is the gist. It will take several weeks for the repair to be completed …

Needless to say, I am so disappointed with this vehicle and Hyundai as a whole. An engine replacement on a brand new vehicle is unacceptable and should be a concern to anyone looking to buy this car.
Hi John. Just got this error this morning with my 2022 Tucson SEL. Only 445 miles and had it for one week. Sounds like I can expect the same? Is there a chance it's just a sensor as far as you know?
Thanks!
I sure will!!
Did changing the sensor fix the issue? Also, was it just your engine light that was on or your oil light as well?

Today I had check the engine light come on along with the message about a possible issue with my engine control system.
The Tucson is three months old with 3000 miles on it. After making one or two stops on my way home after this happened, the check engine light went off. Not sure what to do.
I’ve had issues with this vehicle setting off inappropriate collision alerts and even inappropriate breaking.
Not much confidence in this vehicle.
Has anyone else had to have a new engine installed? Would love to hear from others.
My check engine light came on this morning at 34,000 miles with the same warning message deal on the screen about a possible engine control system condition. I’m already having anxiety. My last Hyundai which I bought used began having issues at 20,000 miles. First a leak in the a/c, then the water pump going out at 40,000 miles. I swore I would never buy a Hyundai again but then fell in love with the 22 Tucson and figured my Sonata I had was just a crappy car. Now I’m thinking maybe they all suck.
I got the same issue yesterday (10-5-2022) as 25K. Called in for service and was told that it would be Jan 2023 before they could provide service!!!! What kind of BS is that? 4 months without a car and no loaner either. I like my Tucson, but if this is the service after the sell, then I may be back in the market for a new vehicle (and it won't be a Hyundai). I keep up on the maintenance as well.

Hi, I bought my Hyundai Tuscon 1.6 CRDI Tecno Mild Hybrid 10 months ago.

I had the Low AdBlue warning light came on with a warning that I need to take the car to the nearest dealership.

Managed to get into a petrol station and checked the the AdBlue level was nearly 90% full! . I topped it up and and around an hour later the warning light disappeared.

A fortnight later the engine light came on, again telling me to take it to the nearest dealership. Once the light came on I immediately noticed that acceleration was poor and at one stage I had the accerater pedal fully down but it did not pick up speed. Next working day drove the car to the dealership only to notice that the light went off before I got there.

They checked it out and after 6 hours got my car back, no fault found!

Two days later same alert came up and the car has now been with the dealership for 12 days and all they have reported is that they seen the sporadic alerts but cannot trace what is actually causing these alerts.

Has anyone come across this and found a solution to resolve it. Any information would be much appreciated.

Any updates on this issue? My check engine light is on in my 2022 Tucson hybrid as well. It has 5500 km on it. My son did a scan and it says there’s an issue with the coolant thermostat. Dealership can’t look at the vechicle until December 14th.

Got my car back from Hyundai, appears to fixed! The repair consisted of cleaning up and repairing the electrical installation of the injection control unit as indicated by Hyundai technical service. 20 days gone all looking good.

Update: I was able to get a service appointment this week, only after pushing the issue with the Service Manager. Initially, the regular service representative repeatedly insisted 4-5 weeks away was the earliest availability. After several calls on subsequent days, I finally got through to the Service Manager, who arranged the earlier date.

More importantly, I will provide an update on the vehicle after it’s evaluated on Wednesday. This problem with the Engine Control System for a brand new vehicle could just be a one-off, or it could be a more widespread issue.
Same here. Filed lemon law!
Here's the code that caused the error.... My scanner cannot clear it. So I guess it's going to the dealer.... Hopefully it's just a bad sensor ..

I got this exact same message a few days ago, after which my check engine came on (solid amber.) My Hyundai dealer looked at the car today. They read the exact same code: "p013e 02 sensor delayed response rich to lean bank 1 sensor 2." They said that they then found a bulletin for ECU and TCU update to eliminate the code. Once they performed the update the code went away. -- Hopefully that takes care of the problem.
Thanks. Looks like they should have updated it before I took delivery last June. Oh well...
