Anyone have their windshield replaced before?

So i had someone cut the grass next to my car while at work a few days ago, go what i thought was just clippings on my car. But as it turns out there was also sand on my windshield wipers, so when i flicked them on to fling the grass away (not using washer fluid) I hear SCRAAAAAAPPEEEE!! from the passenger sire wiper. **** it! 3 scratches running the entire length of the passenger side.

So I call Safelite and evidently theres a 0 dollar deductible law law in Florida for windshield glass, so, once they actually locate a new one, they are replacing it. I'm hoping theres no issues once its replaced, Ive never had to replace glass before. I’m nervous about having it replaced, so many times I’ve tried to make something better only to have a worse outcome.

Thought I would respond since I just did a post about the windshield as far as if it's acoustic or not.

I do know that if you have the glass replaced, under no circumstances do not allow for an aftermarket windshield to be installed. With all the crash mitigation systems on the car with use cameras behind the windshield, car manufacturers have very stringent specs for the glass they use, including the optical clarity of the glass.

Hyundai will likely not honor warranty repairs to any issues involving the Tucson's camera if it could be attributed to an aftermarket windshield.

But as in my post about the windshield, I am trying to determine if these cars have acoustic glass, but I don't see the marking for it, even though Hyundai says it does. Hopefully we can get that determined on here soon, but this would be another reason to get OEM glass only.

Many of these glass companies will offer aftermarket windshields or the insurance companies will try to go that route to save money. They will say that the aftermarket windshields are made to the exact same specs as the factory windshield, but that does not mean Hyundai approves of it.

I appreciate the heads up about aftermarket glass. I did specially request OEM to be installed and I’m just waiting for Progressive to approve it. They said it’ll take longer to locate it over aftermarket, but I’m fine with that. Hopefully the do approve it. If not for a 3 month old car, then what for?
You should be fine if you get the OEM. Just curious if you get a chance, what the markings on your windshield show.

When it finally gets installed I’ll snap a pic and post it for you.

My wife has Safelite replace her windshield. They did a fantastic job. I notice every little flaw and I could not find one. Just make sure the the replacement is a Hyundai winddshield ( double laminated )

I had my windshield replaced from Safelite from a stone chip coming from Florida on my 2020 Jeep Compass and they had to get one directly from the manufacturer as it wasn't available from after markets. It took a really long time to get one and it was only one chip that needed repair. Two days later another stone chipped it again. Hopefully you have better luck.
I'll be watching this thread. Living in Canada cracked and chipped windshields are a way of life. With all the gravel they have to use to keep the winter roads drivable, we have to replace our windshield on the regular. Pretty much unheard of to have one without some sort of chip or crack.

I just when through this in Alberta, Canada and found out they do not have aftermarket windshields yet for the PHEV so the would have to get an OEM windshield but they are back ordered. Luckily for me they could just fill the crack and so far so good.
