Anyone know what this panel on the roof is?

2023 Tucson Hybrid Limited owner...I just noticed an interesting panel on the roof behind the shark fin antenna.

Does anyone know what it is? It looks like it should pop up (for some reason), but I can't figure out what the heck it is.

BTW, I've owned 10 cars (MGB, Charger, Fords, Toyotas - all bought new), and this is my third Hyundai. It's by far the best car I've ever owned.

I would speculate that it facilitates access to the rear wiper mechanism if that's ever needed for a repair or something.

It's a rear spoiler for when you go over 120 mph on the race track.

In other words, I don't know. :D

Makes sense, thanks. I was hoping it was a secret compartment (lol)
It must be the flaps that help you get the wheels off the ground when you are ready to take off! I have the Ultimate hybrid but can't say that I have noticed this.

It's where the flux capacitor is housed.

At my age, that's redundant.

Style. Every curve in the metal doesn't have a purpose other than style, so, it's aesthetically pleasing.

No, it definitely has a purpose. If you look closely at the picture (or at an actual Tucson), you will see it's not a curve in the sheet metal but an actual panel that can presumably be removed.

OK, I have a different idea...Here's a picture of a Honda SUV that appears to have the same panel, even though the rear wiper is at the bottom of the rear window:
So my new theory is that the panel provides access to the mechanism that raises and lowers the liftgate.
Make sense?

In that case, I definitely think you should remove yours...
It is the hatch part the glass will mount to. Then the wing is bolt on after the fact. Has no special purpose. You can take the wing and 3rd brake light to see it is part of the glass frame.

Over 120? Any side street…. My speedo (2022 Tucson Limited Hybrid) tops out at 160. Totally useless, makes it harder to read the actual number. I hope they reduce it to 120 on my firmware update…. But they bricked my car doing the update and don’t expect a new ECM for 2-3 weeks. Meanwhile they gave me a rental Toyota TinyCar POS. I’m in process of bitching to the dealer to get me in at least something I can fit my daily tools in…

Oh yes, I WILL buy the extended warranty!
There has been a quiet program since 1993 which has been shaping future car use and compliance worldwide. This is why you see SUVs taking over for instance. This panel hosts the tracking systems and DNA manipulation devices to make humanity compliant for world domination by the Alien Cabal. The Aliens determined that SUVs are the perfect delivery vehicle for this sort of tech as lazy humans rarely look at the top of their vehicle or even think about the roof.

Alternatively, I like the access panel theory for the wiper system and anything else up there like electronic harnesses and the like.
