Anyone regret the Amazon Grey? - First new car purchase and am getting nervous...

I've got one reserved for Amazon Grey with a Black interior that's set to deliver in a couple of weeks.

And at first I was very excited about the color and thought it beat out Phantom Black. But now am getting a little nervous and I have another dealer where I can get Black on Black without a penalty.

There are certain lights where the green-grey looks super sleek and others where it's just meh.

Part of me wonders if I'm just freaking out because it's the biggest purchase of my life lol. Or if black is the way to go.

Experiences with it and advice welcomed along with pics of either color. Thanks.

Bumping up this thread since after looking at several Tucsons today, I'm starting to like this color. Always had my heart set on blue, but the deep sea is just so close to black, and atlantis blue isn't a hybrid choice - which is what I want. I'll have to go look at it again at the dealer (cars are quite dirty now due to no rain and also maybe they're not washing them because of the drought conditions). I'm not a big fan of grey for a car, but this is an interesting mix of grey and green.

Seven shades of no color and one red & one white. How sad. What a dull, conforming traffic jam we endure. Seven white Tesla's in a row, 9 black SUV's, end to end going down the freeway. How boring. Who stole our personalities?

How about some stinking COLOR ???? Holy Cow...

In 1991 we had a 2 tone Ford Explorer. White roof and Light Denim Blue bottom, iirc.

Where have all the colors gone?? Sounds like it could be a song.

All the Ford Explorer colors available in 1998:

You got it. Back in the day cars had distinctive styling. A friend of mine who runs an auto parts store had told me awhile back that time was when he could tell you what practically any car and model was on the road. Not so now anymore cause so many look the same. "Styling went out of style"! I like that...

My daughter came across this, which I thought was pretty interesting.

Black shows dirt.
Sliver hides it well. That said

I wanted the N line in Titan gray, but with the 2025 cluster change I could not find a suitable 2024.
I opted for a lesser model in the Amazon Grey, which in certain light looks green.
Driving home from the dealer I saw a silver Tucson and must say I feel like I should have gotten the silver. The reason is the black trim really pops on the silver. The Amazon Gray the black trim blends in.

What I do not like are the hockey sticks and contemplating having them painted or replaced with black. The question being, gloss, semi, or flat.

I hate the sun and heat. Every time I buy a car, my color choice is “The lightest color that’s not white.” For my new 2022 Tucson Hybrid “Limited” I bought black - and hate it. Why? The only colors offered besides silver (an unfinished look) were black, white, and five shades of grey. Some greys look ok in the bright lights of a dealership, or when you’re standing right next to the car. But on the road, they all look remarkably drab and boring. And they had one other color, “Deep Sea.” You’d think that could be blue - and it is. But ONLY at exactly the right angle and ONLY in direct sunlight. The car is really black. Yuck.

I'm still debating this - drove over to the dealer again today to look at both the deep sea and amazon grey. I can't say I'm in love with that amazon color - but I think it could really 'grow on me' - since it's quite a unique color - and love the metallic flecks or whatever the correct description might be compared to a more 'flat' paint - don't care for that as much in any color. But, yeah, while I always thought in terms of getting a blue car next, that blue is VERY dark. In the dealer's lot it's parked next to black, and depending on how the sun hits it, there just isn't that much difference. Never wanted a black car so I'm worried that if I choose it, I might wind up disliking it increasingly so as time goes on.

Other than color, still kicking around PHEV vs HEV. The Hyundai website seems to be listing the mpg incorrectly in that it says 35-35-35 for both. Can't be right. If you eliminate the advantage of the first 30+ miles that the PHEV gets on just the battery, I'd think the HEV has to do at least a few mpg better. For one thing, PHEV weights a few hundred pounds more due to the larger battery. I'd also lose some cargo space with the PHEV. I was reviewing the rather detailed thread that I started on all this back in spring.

We often like doing longer car trips - so almost seems that the HEV is the better choice. Can't imagine stopping at a charger every 30+ miles to be able to continue running on just the battery! That'd be like only having a 1-gallon gas tank and stopping constantly to refill. All that said, except for when we do take longer trips, probably most of our driving is local, shorter trips. Many are around 30 miles though, so I'd get the benefit of the battery-only EV mode in one direction, but not back home. OR...is the heavier weight of the PHEV negated by its having more HP than the HEV?

The PHEV really only makes sense only if you can charge at home. That way you can charge overnight and use it in EV mode for local driving. When you use that up, just drive it on gas like a normal hybrid. Be aware that the engine will also run if you need heat, since the Tucson PHEV doesn't have an electric heat pump. Like you said, you'd have to be nutty to attempt to do a long trip on electricity alone. The range is too short and the charge speed is too slow.

Easily done, of course, even with a regular outlet.

I think this was raised in that other "HEV vs. PHEV" thread that I had started. So the HEV version has the electric heat pump?
