Bluetooth "Connection Error" message on infotainment screen with 2 paired phones in the vehicle

Since installing the latest infotainment/navigation software update (i.e. October 2022 update), I have been getting a top-of-screen banner message on my Tucson's infotainment screen that flashes "Connection Error". The error is related to the Bluetooth function. To be more specific it's related to Bluetooth "Device Connections". The error message is displayed only when both my wife and I are in the vehicle driving somewhere. Both of our phones are paired with the Tucson's Bluetooth system and my phone has priority to connect given the fact that my phone was paired first to the system. If we turn either phone off (or turn either phone's Bluetooth off) the error message goes away.
I called Hyundai Canada Customer Relations about the issue (which a separate error message on the Device Connections screen advised me to do) and the agent told me to contact my dealer, which is the typical response from Hyundai Customer Service.
Has anyone else here experienced this "Connection Error" issue with 2 paired phones in the vehicle at the same time? I'm going to contact the dealer today and make an appointment to have this looked at.

You don't say what you have tried.
1. Unpair both phones, forget them in the infotainment system including for projection, and on each phone.

2. Soft reset the infotainment system momentarily pushing the little reset button. Nothing should get erased/lost.

3. Restart each phone.

4. Pair again each phone. If you did have either paired for projection, don't yet.

5. If all works and you want/need paired for projection redo that and see if everything still works ok.

^ No, I didn't say what I've tried. Wasn't my post long enough as it was?! :ROFLMAO:
I already tried all of what you mentioned, several times, and always got the same result - the "Connection Error" message.
I just wanted to see if other forum members might be seeing the same issue. Perhaps no one else drives with their spouse who also has a paired phone? Anyway, I have an appointment at the dealer for this Saturday morning. Of course all they will do is confirm the issue and report it to Hyundai Canada. I hope/suspect the issue will be resolved when Hyundai release the next infotainment/navigation software update.

I think then the course of action is clear. The Wife and her phone have to go. 😉

If you haven't already, after deleting the phones in bluetooth connections and forgetting them in the phones.

Delete the profiles in the Tucson.

Re-pair the devices.

Thanks Flashbang, but I've already done that - a few times. It looks to me that when I initially start the vehicle, the bluetooth system tries to connect to both phones at the same time, and after a few seconds displays the Connection Failure message. Connecting to both phones is a no-go, since the system is designed (by way of software) to connect to only one (1) device, and in the presence of multiple paired phones should connect to the phone with the highest "priority". Since my phone has always been paired first, then it's my phone that has the highest priority. Btw.. when the connection failure message is displayed.. if I turn off bluetooth on my wife's phone, the failure message goes away, and then when I turn on bluetooth again on her phone the system is happy - no connection failure message. The message only occurs when the vehicle is initially started with both phones present in the vehicle. It's definitely a weird one and I believe it's being caused by some sort of software glitch.

I always thought that it should be only one Bluetooth connection per profile. Thus, when driver acknowledged ( upon car startup) his/her profile ( as a current driver) - driver's phone will connect and not any other. But because I am the only driver and never paired any other phones in this car - I maybe wrong. I don't think there is such a thing as "priority" based on which device was paired first.

I don't have profiles, there is a priority for which bluetooth connects first after entering more than one phone.

The OP says he tried this, maybe his problems is different or he doesn't use projection, but not having any projection bluetooth connections should have fixed it after wiping out connections and restarting. Then make sure the Projection Bluetooth connection is the same phone as the regular bluetooth phone.
OR - turn off auto connect for AA or CP that too may fix it.

Per the Tucson HEV Infotainment Manual.. you can pair up to 6 Bluetooth devices to the vehicle's Bluetooth system. I don't use/have profiles, as my wife and I have virtually the same seating positions, climate control settings and infotainment/radio channel preferences. The manual mentions no correlation at all between Bluetooth pairings and profiles - it only states that you can pair up to 6 Bluetooth devices to the system.
The manual also mentions Auto Connection Priority - you can set the priority order for automatic Bluetooth connection to the system when it turns on. On my Tucson's "Device Connection" screen, my paired phone has the number "1" as a prefix and my wife's paired phone has the number "2" as a prefix. The system creates those priority prefixes when the phones are paired to the system. I paired my phone first, therefore my phone automatically became priority 1.
