My 22 SEL Convenience Premium package Tucson comes with a traditional incandescent light, and it's super dim in the cargo area. I think possibly all models come with this, a strange omission considering how many LED's there are on this thing.

I purchased these lights based on a Facebook post, they fit, and are a HUGE upgrade in the amount of light in the cargo area. Not blinding, not a weird color, they match everything else on the car perfectly! Replacement is easy, just use a trim tool or small blade screwdriver to pop out the light module, then pop off the white cover. It's a 31mm Festoon light that does not matter for polarity.

Seriously, 5 minutes tops for less than $15, super easy upgrade.

EDIT: Some tips from Captain Blight: insert the pry tool on the long edge and the top will pop out. Also either leave the lift gate shut/light off, or shut everything off and let the light cool as it will be HOT.

I did this a few months ago as well. World of difference in brightness when cargo area opened.
So, even in your Limited trim this made the cargo area noticeably brighter? I ask because I have the Canadian Ultimate trim (so equivalent to Limited) and was wondering how much (or if) the lighting could be easily improved.

I have the Canadian PHEV Ultimate and I switched to the LED bulb and it made a big difference. The standard bulb barely lit up the cargo area, the LED bulb makes a world of difference and it is less than a 5 minute job once you have the LED bulb.
I just need a single 31mm Festoon bulb then? Any chance you can post a link to what you bought (on a Canadian-friendly site, say on amazon.ca)? Any other interior bulbs that I should upgrade?

TIA!

I also repaced the 2 reading lights covered by the visor. I used the 28mm below. Someone said the 31mm would work but they were too big and I did not like bending the contacts to make it work so I just bought the 28mm lights.

I know in the ultimate PHEV everything else is already LED, it may be different in the HEV, I am not sure.

The glove box also used either the 31 or the 28mm, I can't remember so if you buy both you wil have a spare for that as well.

Yes. Noticeably brighter white light. On Limiteds, the cargo light is the only interioylight that's not LED. Go figure.

Thanks to the info here I changed to led lights in the rear cargo area and the two mirror lights in a matter of minutes. (Sel/Convenience/Premium)
The 31mm DID fit with no bending in the two mirror lights - just a little snug but that's it. Huge difference.

Thanks to @phalkon30 for his product suggestion.
Theses LED are P-E-R-F-E-C-T.
Super bright and wow, now we see something in the trunk.

You created a monster, I now want to pop theses things everywhere 😝
That's so awesome to hear they were helpful! I'm still happy with the one I put in, easy upgrade. Word of warning, I put those in the vanity lights in my last car and they were so bright my wife complained every time she used them at night :)

If you're into LED's, I bought these to replace my backup light and turn signals. They're still in my trunk, waiting for a warm day to install, but the NX4 Facebook group just LOVES these lights. They say they're safer for turn signals, and backup camera is clearer because of how bright they are.

Thanks for the feedback and for sharing, yes, this was very helpful.

My backup lights are already done and my amber turn signals are on the way (B/O right now). In Canukistan 🍁(Amazon.ca) ,we often don't have all the goodies you guys have in the US on Amazon.com... lucky you. We often have to find alternatives on Amazon canada that are not as cool.

As far as the interior lights, unfortunately my model is the "Type B" lights and interior lights are built in and are not user replaceable aside from the sunvisor lights that I never use. Interior light on the type B models is not sufficient, but we have to deal with it I guess.

For reverse, I found some backup lights (givedoua) and oh yeah ... they are way better than stock. So far, very happy

it would be awesome to change the rear turn lights (bottom) and mix them with into the rear lights (red lights) like other cars
I don't disagree could have had reflectors or "running lights" below and the signals incorporated above. I will say however following all the new cars where the signals are below, I do always see them no problem. There is alot of light if you have the complete led strip etc maybe they felt the signal would get lost some when the brakes are on?

I read an article that it's the direction Kia/Hyundai is going to create differentiation. Legally, signaling and braking marker lights cannot be on moveable parts of the car either like the cargo door on the rear. In an effort to make bigger openings for cargo, the lights on either side of it have shrunk leaving less room for lights as well.

I did the LED upgrade to my turn signals in the rear because I want them more visible, just giving what I've read as the excuse for why it was done that way.
