I have the charge level set to 12 A. The manual says that’s the level you can use if your outlet current is 14-16 A. I don’t know what that means (how do you know what your outlet current is??)

Right now as I’m set to 12 A the vehicle is charging at 1.1 KW according to the dash

Thanks!!

That means if you plug the charger into a 15 amp circuit, make sure nothing else is drawing power from it or you may trip the circuit breaker for that plug. If you plug it into a 20 amp circuit you may have a little more leeway. You can check the circuit breakers in the electrical panel of your house to find the amperage of the circuit breakers. They are generally 15 or 20 amps for a regular 120 volt circuit.

The NEC specifies that a breaker shouldn't carry more than 80% of its rated capacity so for a 20A breaker, 16A is the maximum current it should carry continuously.
