Just had a call from my local dealer that they have a software update for my Tucson. I do NOT know the ID# for this update. I have an appointment on September 8 for them to do this.

I'll update next week.

Not yet, 8am tomorrow. I thought that OTA updates came up with a message in the car telling you there is an update? Mine certainly told me earlier in the year. That was when the OTA update screwed up, kept saying it was complete with Bluelink emails then trying again every time I started the car. Dealer had to fix that and even they couldn’t until they called Hyundai. Had to do a head unit reset (not sure what the cirr3ct name is for that). They had to keep the car overnight.

My car just started showing me an update today. It is a bout the Data Communication Unit (DCU) and fixing telematics stopping working after a year.

I have my appointment tomorrow at the local dealer. I'll question if this the update that they are doing. If so, I'll if they will let me do the OTA update (says 10 minutes) while there - this after the last update hosed up the car (said it completed but tried the update again after each car start).

Some of you may have read that I had issues with an OTA update some months back. Bluelink kept telling me that an OTA update was complete yet every time I started the car, it attempted to do the update again. The dealer had to do a system reset (after getting advice from Hyundai) to fix that.

Yesterday as I was about to do some teaching the car said it had an OTA update after I turned the car off. It said about 10 minutes and the car did not have be running to do the update. I kicked it off and went inside.

When I came out again, the update was complete (now it is SW version 25.8.1). This was tagged as a telematics error being fixed. The words DCU error was in the details.

Kinda odd is that is what I thought the dealer did about a month ago. I just looked at the service ticket from my local dealer and all it says is "DCU Software Update"...so would appear to be the same thing that the car did yesterday. The service ticket says "Recall Performed DCU Update" but does NOT state a SW version Number.

Has anyone else seen this?

I questioned then that they were doing a software OTA update at the dealer. Now that you posted what they said they did, I read it as they did the reset - that's what the recall probably was they had to do a reset and as you say needed Hyundai to guide them through it so not something the owner could do, for then the OTA to work.

No, not quite Tampa. The error that I got when the car kept repeating the update was much earlier in the year. The dealer recall update done about a month ago was the DCU update according to the service ticket. The OTA update that I did yesterday appears to me to be the exact same as the dealer did as a recall. Maybe they found another error in the DCU?

I see that Tampa added to this this post (via the email notification) but do NOT see the rest of his post on the site. Firefox is giving some sort of crash error on the site. Using Edge, I still do NOT see the rest of the Tampa post. Kinda odd. I sent details to the website when requested about the error.

Tampa said (from the email notify):
This is how I am reading what you wrote... About a month ago the dealer did service, they reset the system and had to call Hyundai to get it reset. That says to me they had to have the car come in to reset it, not something the owner could do. Now, a month later you got an update. We ( I )...

1. The "reset" was done much earlier in the year when an update tried run repeatedly every time I started the car. That was when the dealer had to reset the system and re-install the current SW level.

2. About a month ago, I got a call from my local dealer about an update that THEY had to install (that was the DCU update according to the service ticket).

3. The OTA update that I just did "seems" to be the same DCU update.

So, three separate events. Hope this makes it more clear.

It looks like me NOT being able to get to the forums using my default browser Firefox is because the forum site support says this:

"It looks like the ad-blocking feature of Malwarebytes Browser Guard is currently enabled. Disabling it should resolve the issue.
Please refer to the red highlight in the image for instructions on how to disable it.

Note: Do not disable Browser Guard on this page (report.error-report.com). Please go back to the site where the issue originally occurred and try disabling it there."

Me disabling security features in Malwarebytes on my PC is NOT going to happen.
