The touch/swipe/slide door handle lock/unlock feature sucks! At least that's been our experience :(
Sometimes they work effortlessly, sometimes never, sometimes what I did to unlock just keep making it lock, and times it's unlocked and just continues to unlock. Very frustrating but just using fob now as I've given up on this POS "feature". Maybe there's something the dealer can do as I can't imagine everyone has this system that works in this totally random nature.
Thoughts???
I wish they would go with the passive lock system like the Cadillac had in 2012. If you walk away from the car (with the fob) it will lock automatically and unlock again when you get within a foot of the car.

Hmmmm........I've never had my door locks unlock automatically (if that is a setting change then I don't remember seeing it). You have to stand behind the car or slowly cross the back for x seconds for the auto hatchback to work. I find it useful when coming out of a grocery store but it still takes x beeps to actually go into the unlock phase...where the beep sound changes to alert you that the hatchback is opening. Admittedly, I have had it open when I am too slow behind the car or stop and talk to somebody. All in all...I still like the feature.

I have a 2023 Tucson Hybird and it took me a bit to learn how to finesse the lock & unlock. I was initally holding the handle and touching the indent to lock confusing the mechanism. Now just a quick grab of the handle unlocks and when I want to lock I use my thumb to touch only the indent on the handle. No problems anymore.

Each manufacturer has its own way of locking and unlocking. A little willing you will over come this. I think we buy cars on budget, quality, looks and what we plan to use it for. Once we choose what we're looking for, little things will not stop us from buying the car.
I bought the Tucson based on the first three points. But as they says it s your money and you choose what you want to do with it.

Mine unlocks as soon as I grab the handle, but locking takes about 3 seconds.

I found if I continued to touch it until it unlocked I had no problems. My Accord didn't require that so this frustrated me until I got use to it.

Nope. I have a 2023 Hybrid blue and its a mystery as to when it actually works correctly. Sometimes with the key in my hand, sometimes with the key in my pocket. Sometimes I have to touch the handle and sometimes it just unlocks when I get close. Even more annoying is when I walk near the back of the vehicle it will unlock and raise the rear trunk lid whenever it feels like it like its assuming that since I walked to the back of the vehicle, I must need to get in the back area.
You need to read the manual based on that.

@bballjer44

You need to read the manual based on that
.

Car door locks up once car starts moving,
-Tail gate will open automatically if you stand beside or back of it, assuming doors are locked
-If you step out an close the door, all doors are locked(check your setting if you need to change this)
-You need to wait around 1 min or so, for the above to function otherwise You need it to do manually.
I think everything should be linked with our mind, but AI in this case is not there yet. LOL
Watch STAR WAR, maybe you could improve some Jedi forces.
May the force be with you. LOL

I disabled this feature because it was too annoying. It would open as I walked by. If I sat down, I would have to hold the close button until it closed - unlike the single long- press to open. Or pressing the close button on the hatch door. On the door lock nonsense - I was confused why the door lock button didn't actually lock the doors. I don't use key fob much because it's keyless. I finally went back to the dealer. Well, they said that Hyundai didn't want us to lock the key fob in the car. Hello? It's keyless. Keyfob belongs in pocket. Except to lock doors. After being annoyed by this for awhile, the service dept. said he would show me. He touched door handle & click, the doors locked. He pointed out the the dimple on the handle and a simple press & the doors lock with an audible ding. Works great. Just wish I knew that sooner. The other annoying this is the locked rear door. When exiting car you can't open rear door unless you unlock using front door handle. While I'm here: driver convenience button. Setting for seats only. You still have to readjust outside mirrors. While this is a great car, these oversights of features that have around for years is puzzling.

Confirming what @Tampa8 said. A swipe across the dimple works 100%. Directly touching the dimple is iffy. A light touch on the inside of the handle unlocks the car. (Configured for one touch, driver's door, two touches, all doors.)

I'm not sure I'm tall enough to try butt-locking.
It’s a touch, not a swipe. But agreed, it kinda feels like a swipe, as your finger was there for a few milliseconds longer. After your touch is recognized, the system still takes almost a full second to issue the lock activation.

There is a setting to unlock rear doors when putting vehicle in park. Read the manual settings.

Had the car for a year and this one still making me crazy. I'm driving with passenger. Pull into the lot and park, leave the car "on" (to prevent radio shutoff or loss of current program). Want to get something out of the back seat... I get out and tug at the rear door. It won't open as it is still locked, although it should be open, because I just got out. Have to open the front door again and twiddle the unlock button. I HATE THE AUTOMATIC LOCK-WHEN-YOU-DRIVE "feature/bug." I haven't found a way to disable that. Anybody help?

It's in the settings, in the manual. Set it to unlock all doors when you put the car in park. Done. Those settings are important to some people, some do not want their doors to open till the engine is turned off for security, some want them opened as soon as the car is in park. Some want just the driver's door to unlock, some all doors.......

You just hit the unlock all doors button before getting out! If car is running rear doors should never automatically unlock. Very unsafe.

I had problems at first also. To lock, swipe the back of your hand on the outside of the handle. I was grabbing the handle with my hand trying to lock it. Grab the handle to unlock only.

True, some do NOT want the passenger door to unlock in case someone that is not wanted in the car hops in!
