I go out to the Tucson, fob in pocket, doors unlock upon approach, fine. I drive to the store, shop, go back out to go home in the Tucson, and the doors don't unlock, but click once for locking. Have to use fob to unlock door, why?

Anyone else having this problem?

Your doors unlock on approach? I didn't realize any trim had that I would hope it could be turned off. Mine doesn't have it. (SEL Conv/Prem)

Do mean you touch the handle? If so then you are not doing it right, put your hand over the handle and pull it will unlock at the same time.

Yeah, I just went through the manual and I don’t see anything anout a walk away, approach unlock feature on the Tucson. I’ll have to check the setup on the screen to see if that feature is available.

Do you mind to elaborate a little bit more?
Do you use/configured/personalized digital key option?
I do not use digital key option nor configured it previously, but it is my understanding ( based on the car manual) that "the personalization function linked with digital key works as ..contact the driver's door handle with the profile linked smart phone to lock or unlock the doors"...so, if this is your case ( you linked your smart phone and personalized such lock/unlock function) then if you know that door got unlock ( you heard unlock sound) when you approach the vehicle on your way to the store but didn't unlock when you were coming from the store - I can think of poor cellular coverage in that area only.
However, if you didn't do any presonalization/don't use digital key - then maybe your car doors were already unlocked when you were leaving your house and doors stayed unlock when you went to the store?

and, BTW, the only other "option" ( according to the manual) when doors are unlocked automatically is "All doors will be automatically unlocked when an impact causes the air bags to deploy"...hopefully, none of us ever needs this feature.

Or I was thinking something like doors were unlocked with the fob but never opened so they locked again and he was there for some process of that. I can't outright say there is no unlock/lock on approach but I don't see it anywhere.

Yes, sorry, of course I grab the door handle and it clicks twice to unlock, but as I stated, not always, and yes, I grab the handle completely around, nothing. This same issue with the hatch opening, first thing in the morning, when I get near it starts beeping to let me know it's about to open, I walk away from the back hatch at that point. But other times, going to the golf course, in the morning I stand near the hatch, it beeps and opens, but on leaving the golf course, with fob in hand, nothing until I push and hold the hatch button on the fob. Same model with exactly the same packages as you stated you have.

You are mixing two different things (driver door and hatch door) together.
Hatch door has a feature (you can uncheck the box in infotainment configuration settings if you don't want it - I did ) that automatically opens hatch if you standing behind it for 3 seconds (of course, as long as you have a fob present as well).
If you are standing next to your car with a fob but not behind the car - it won't open the hatch.
Driver door "auto unlock" is not anywhere configurable in infotainment center, so - I am not even sure now if you actually ever had such thing working if you didn't use digital key and configured it.

So that clears things up some. There is such a feature as approaching and the doors unlocking as you posted but the Hyundai does not do that.

All I can think of is to change the batteries in the remote(s). That hatch should close as you walk away mine always does. Same for holding the handle and pulling it always unlocks the door.
The other thing not to overlook, what is in your pocket with the key fob things with metal could restrict the signal or something with an electronic signal right there. Not as likely but possible.

You are misunderstanding my dilemma. I know how both hatch and door are supposed to open, what I wrote was what I experienced, in the morning going to golf, I stand there and it beeps and opens the hatch, after golf, when I go to put my clubs back in the car, standing there, with the fob, it does nothing. Also, when I first get into the car in the morning, it opens when I grab the handle, but, after that it does not open, I must use the fob push door open.

I think, it haven’t found it, that you can set that when you unlock the driver door, you can opt for driver door only or all doors unlock. I’ll have to check the menus for it.

This smart trunk release feature does not work if your doors are unlocked. Could it be after you removed your golf clubs to play golf that you didn't lock your doors?

I've experienced the same problem. It doesn't always send the unlock signal when you touch the handle, sometimes it sends the lock signal, even if it's already locked. I'll have to test it out today, but I think it might happen if you only click the lock button on the FOB once, not twice.

I am more convinced the problem may be user error, as I had at one time to lock it. Touching the handle does not unlock the door. If touched in the right place it locks it as you are seeing. (And instead of touching swipe to lock can be easier)

To unlock the door put your hand over the handle and pull.

Just started having the same issue on my 2022 Tucson Hybrid SEL. Randomly it will not unlock using the driver side handle. I am able to lock it from the driver side handle. I can walk around the car and it will open from passenger side.

One clue may be that when dark the passenger side handle LED lights up when I approach and the driver side does not. Possibly points to proximity sensor on driver side door handle? I'll do some more testing, but being an intermittent issue that may take a while.
