If you have a key start you may not have an immobilizer. This software fix when it becomes available should give it a close resemblance to an immobilizer.
They are instructing the Control module, (Through the alarm on most models) to not start the car if the key is not being used. There is no chip involved so my reading of it is a copy of your key could be used.
Push button and cars built in 2022+ should not be affected by the problem.
