Hi,

My 2022 Hyundai Tucson Limited is 3 months old now, all of sudden stopped on high way and didn't start at all. Towed the car to Hyundai dealer and after 2 days got a call saying that "Fuel Injector" failed, upon asking more questions service guy told me that it my be due to bad fuel or some debris in fuel injector. Is anyone faced this issue ? its a new car and i am not confident to take it on long drive now :(

Thanks in advance

I find it hard to believe their excuse about bad fuel being the cause. Did they replace only 1 injector?
They replaced as per their call but not sure how many :(

I had a fuel injector fail on a brand new Honda Civic Si. It caused the catalytic converter to overheat and get red hot. It went on to be a very reliable car. I sold it at 175k miles.

Finally, got the car and they said only one was messing up so they replaced only one. Lets see how far this one go !!

Is that an admission it wasn't bad fuel? With their theory, all injectors should be replaced!

Had the same thing happen to me. My fuel pump, o rings and a bunch of stuff with the fuel system needs replacing. Only 4k miles on it and 3 months old. They told me I had put diesel in it apparently and that's what ruined everything. I know for a fact I didn't use diesel. The bill is $4500 and they refuse to cover the cost.

No physical way you could have put a diesel fuel in the car the diameter of the nozzle is larger then the opening in the car the gas station would of had to mix up the tanks and put the diesel fuel in a tank that was gas only. I have been around this before diesel should not have bothered the o rings they are both petroleum based products but a fuel additive may have caused the problem?

It's happened in the past where a gas station accidentally had diesel put in the wrong tank leading to many people having problems like that.

I'd go after the gas station where you filled up last, Hyundai dealer probably correct in this instance.

Another possibility is that the fuel had more than 10% ethanol content which pulls polymers out of the plastic fuel system parts and gunks up your fuel system. In any case, the thing to do is have your fuel analyzed and lawyer up to make the station pay.
Agree with everyone. Assuming the dealer isn't just making it up (get that fuel analyzed that will tell you) then take whatever action you think you need to.

More like they will charge the customer and put in a warranty claim with Hyundai and get double back.

Where would I get the fuel analyzed?
Where would I get the fuel analyzed?
There are lots of labs out there that do fuel analysis. They'll mail you a test kit for a fee. Your local Caterpillar dealer does fuel analysis.

Yep as the reply above says many labs are set up to do it. There are many people who have their oil analyzed for various reasons.
Some when they first get the car as a base point.
Some when there may be a problem, suspect other fluids getting into it as an example
Some at varying points to see if metal pieces are increasing that may show unusual wear. (Or normal wear)
Some as a spot check to make sure the Dealer or oil change place really did put in Full Synthetic

And - some to see if diesel was really in there or not. ;)

I currently own and drive a 2003 Hyundai Tiburon
20 years of driving and 240,00km
The original fuel injectors are doing great.

I have a 2022 SEL that I purchased in March . On Aug 1 I lost acceleration on Highway and had car towed to dealership. Hyundai had field engineers come look at my car, tore it apart and order the whole fuel assembly, pump, fuel rails and sensors. Could not tell me why. I just received a call today that it’s all fixed and ready for pick up. I have a friend at the dealer I which they said there are over 40 cars there for same issue! I’m sure there will be a recall at some point! But def not a “bad fuel “ issue. More like bad manufacturing!!

Hi Tiff, Can I get in touch with you. Wanted to talk to you about the same issue.
I'm guessing it's not the port injectors,
But the direct injectors,
Wish there was a way to toggle between the two.
