Description & Operation
"The VESS (Virtual engine sound system) generates engine sound when you start the EV system.
This sound is for pedestrians to hear vehicle sound because there is no engine sound in EV driving.
VESS operates when vehicle speed is between 0.5 - 28km/n." - Hyundaitechinfo.com
Removal for Maintainence
First, remove the under cover from the front of the vehicle, then remove the front bumper assembly.
It appears to be very simple, but like any teardown, you could always snap something improperly - so work patiently.
The VESS speaker (diagrams below) appears to be a small 5x5 closed/slotted speaker housing.
Not sure what I'll do when I reach it - I'm thinking I'll remove the assembly from the vehicle, opening the housing, and dampen the entire interior of the housing. Or maybe replace the speaker? Idk yet. I'll keep yall posted.
