Hyundai Corp vs. Dealership

The first set of paperwork was total trash for my Tucson. That was actually a hampton grey one I test drove - same trim as what I would end up in. They sold when I told them no initially. The trade in value was based on a lower trim level than I had, EV tax rates for Texas, full msrp, and a boat load of extra dumb crap added on. Just.. no. They called later to see what it would take to get me to buy the next day.

Second contract was good minus the missing $500 for being a vet. They had my DD214 so when I asked about that when I went to get Blue... they said "Hyundai is slow to pay us, so we send them your DD214 and they will send you a check". Sounded odd even then... but I got a hell of a deal on my trade (way more than I owed and over blue book), thousands under msrp on the Tucson, and all the stupid crap they added removed. Even the tint that's on the car, charge was gone.

I contact Hyundai to ask about this $500 dollar check and they say... no surprise.. "what? What check?" Now over two months of them asking me for my contract four times, the dealership not talking to me other than to email asking why i didnt give them perfect on the survey, and a ton of phone tag with the Corp people.....

I finally I get around to rating the dealer on google, yelp, etc.. with a very honest telling of my buying experience and the service side telling me I had a 6spd auto and didn't know what I was talking about with noise in 7th - come back when it stops shifting or a CEL appears. (3k miles later and the noise is still there but no other weird things outside of a bit of a weird 1 to 3 skip shift that isnt harsh, just a bit.. odd feeling. under slow, low throttle, and not warmed conditions. My EGT did a crap shift when cold on its first shift from 25k to 158k miles and that never got worse)

I get a letter from the dealer that isn't a mass mailer today. It's stamped individually. In the envelope, the $500 dollar check. I removed the review and will replace with another honest but less over the top jerk review. The date the check was cut; the day the review went up. They have yet to contact me about it. Now.. to figure out what to say. Not happy that they tried to BS me twice.. but that's most dealers I've dealt with minus the Kia dealership that I got my van from, but they are currently adding 5k to everything...... and I don't like the Kia version of the nx4. A bit... bleh looking and I like most Kias over Hyundais right now.

They did make it right with pressure from Hyundai and my review. What to say... hmm

Anyway/Also.. to figure out what to do with the money I wasn't expecting. Wife knows about it... so can't be too dumb.

Bonus...

Yah, certainly sounds like inordinate stamina and resolve required on your part, also coupled with pressure from Hyundai Corp. to fully recover the the deal you had agreed upon with the dealer.

Now "...to figure out what to say."
Taking down the first review might be welcome enough relief for the dealer they simply elect to let the sleeping dog lay. So, I'd await their contact first, as you may have no further calories of effort to burn trying to figure how to build a fitting new review.

And, if reviews there include stars, and adding one (and only one) to what your initial review had been does NOT wind up giving them now 5 Stars (meaning of course perfectly satisfied), then so be it. But only one added star thing.

As far as what to write, maybe something like, "After inordinate stamina and resolve on my part, coupled with pressure from Hyundai Corp., I was able to fully recover the the deal I had agreed upon with the dealer."

Glad you were (finally) made whole.

They made one mistake. Not understanding the amount of patience linked to dumb stuff that DD214 represented. Grunt turned admin after an injury in Iraq. I am well equipped for long drawn out fights based on mostly principle more than the amount. They lied. It got fixed. Again, Hyundai itself stood behind what they said they would - so really happy to see that hasn't changed.

Good input on how to respond. I like it.

I've never served. And as not even a fingernail's worth of substituting for that though, I managed to leverage skills when way way older to score as USACE contractor 3 years in Iraq's Reconstruction, and a year for DOS INL Afghanistan.

No, I'll not insult anyone of service a flip-off, "Thank you for your service." It can never be said anywhere near-worthy as such.

Happy Safe & Healthy New Year. For you, family, and friends. O.K, - your pets and cars and all the rodents in your house too.

Didn't happen to be there in 05 eh? Wonder if we may have come close to crossing paths. I was all over the place during that time. That said; one of my current favorite authors nailed what it is like to be in the military in his writing. Including the dumb - hurry up and wait, etc etc etc. I thought for sure he was in uniform; nope - contractor. So I can see those that were around it in that capacity getting to know the dumb that comes with it. Also; on a lot of my projects the contractors were super freaking helpful - so nothing but love for the guys I worked with when I was over there.

Also; if all goes well I will join the contractor side of things and leave my current job. Just waiting for the company I am technically already employed with to secure the contract and I'll be the program manager/help on the HR side of things. That job is one of many reasons I got out of my last ride when I did. I need something I can trust to drive from Texas to Ohio from time to time. I did not trust my last ride to get across Texas itself... maybe I should have thrown a bigger fit about the transmission before I tuned it. Eh... I like this one better in every way other than the lost straight line speed that I really don't miss (also saving money with it). This one is quick enough for what I need.
