Hyundai Extended Warranty after purchase.

I asked the dealer why should I take the warranty when hyundai has 10 year/100k America's best warranty

The response was that the real bumper to bumper from hyundai without any fire print is 3 years, then 5 years has some fine print (like electronics or electricals not covered) and 10 year warranty really covers the piwertrain (engine, wheels, axle).

I'm inclined to take it as we will keep the car for over 100k miles to hand it down to someone in the family

Hence seeking general guidance.

FWIW, our dealer said they don't sell the Hyundai warranty (likely cause they don't make enough on it). Instead, the F&I manager tried to pressure us into buying the one they offer from Zurich. 3 levels, no price comparisons other than how much it would add to a payment. So, for the all inclusive one, they wanted an additional monthly fee of over $100 /month. That's more than $4800 for it...highway robbery! There's also lots of fine print with these aftermarket warranties.

I learned about this buying my last 2 Hondas because I will only by extended warranties directly from the company that makes the cars.

10year/100K/0 deductible: $1,398 (I bought this one)
10year/120K/0 deductible: $1,598

She e-mailed the contract and I called her with credit card info, got everything in the mail a couple of days later.

In my case, the dealer I purchased from was selling the same warranty but backed up by his dealership parent company (valid at any Hyundai dealership in the US). I had some fun negotiating him down, he started at $3,300, then $2,500 and $2,100, then finally told me there was no way I could pass up 10year/100K/0 deductible for $1,750. I did and saved $350 plus my warranty is Hyundai backed. Crystal told me that they are selling them for $300 over their cost.

I see some comments in threads about depreciation and reliability concerns so I thought it worth passing along this info, especially for those that didn't realize you could buy this sort of thing, from Hyundai motors, after purchasing the vehicle.

After negotiating a little bit ( just "for fun"), I was offered Zurich comprehensive ( 10years/120K miles) for $2,400. It looks reasonable price to me ( and I read "Terms and Conditions" and, especially, "What is not covered" part of the agreement), but to compare "oranges to apples"( different companies terms and conditions), it would help to know which company you obtained coverage from. Platinum plus is their new highest coverage. Platinum HPP is the one just below it. I bought the Platinum Plus @ 2100, taxes included.
I would never, ever buy from anyone but the manufacturer. As it is this was the first time I ever decided it was worth getting.
