Infotainment update - No maps

1563 Views 15 Replies 8 Participants Last post by  Tampa8
I am the new owner of a slightly used 2022 Hybrid Limited. We love the car and all of the features that are packed into the car. Now my issue . . .

I updated the Infotainment system from V006 to V009. (NX4HEV.USA.S5W_M.V009.001.221115) After the update, I do not have navigation or maps. The buttons on the dash only beep without changing the screen. I tried downloading the update again and reinstalling in the car thinking that maybe there was an issue with the first download, but that did not change anything. All of the other upgraded features work fine like the new radio layout. Bluelink features like Weather and Gas prices work fine, but Traffic does not since it must rely on the navigation software. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this? I have an appointment at the dealer next week, but would prefer to fix on my own if I can.

^ To the left of the Power button (touch key) for the Infotainment system there is a pinhole push-button that can be pressed to either re-boot or reset the system. Pressing the button once reboots the system without losing any information; however, pressing it in for about 5 seconds does a full reset and you will lose all settings. You may to want to carry out a full reset of the system to see if your navigation and maps come back. If they don't, then a visit to the dealer is definitely recommended. Let us know how things go.

I tried using the reset button. First I tried a quick push and release which rebooted the system with no changes. Then I tried 5 seconds, then 30 and even 60 seconds. All of these seemed to do the same reboot without clearing any of the settings. After trying this, I went into the software info screen and realized that I could scroll down to see the navigation app version and map version. Both of these are blank. It seems that the map update did not load. I assume this means a trip to the dealer.

Update - I took the Tucson to the dealer yesterday. He said that I installed the wrong update. The one I installed apparently did not include navigation. I looked back at the Hyundai Navigation Updater last night. It does not give me an option on what to download. The software offered to me is based on my vehicle choice and VIN. The downloader clearly said “Gen5W Navigation” as the software choice so I don’t have any idea how this is wrong. Oh well, long story short, all is fixed.

Hello to all,
I had the same problem with my 2019 Tuscon Ultimate. After updating no more maps visible on my display. I followed exactly all the steps Hyundai showed on their website.
I done this process twice, still the same.
Now I start thinking again. There must be something wrong with all What Hyundai wrote.
I went back to my car and voila, there is a Card slot on the back of my display. I opened it and found a SD-Card in it. I took the card out took it to my PC and formatted it with FAT16.
After that I copied and pasted the File From Hyundai to the card, put the card back in the slot from my Display. Started the engine and update started automatically, took couple minutes and I have my maps back. Everything is back in the right order.
Fact is, you can not do update from a USB Stick, just take the SD-card out from your display and do update with that card. It works like a charm.

You have a totally different system, none of that applies in the 2022. There is no SD card slot, you can ONLY use a USB stick, or starting with 2023 OTA.
Could be also this situation, depend on what system you have.

Where is the SD card in 2022 Hyundai Tucson?

For SD cards, the SD card slot in the vehicle is generally located just below or above the display screen and labeled “SD Map”. The slot can also be located above and behind the display screen, near the dashboard.
Did you checked your Manual?

There is no SD card slot on the 2022 Tucson. You have a 2019 not a 2022 and all map updates are done with a USB drive.

I'm not understanding, why keep posting erroneous information. There is no SD card slot in the model being talked about in this thread. From 2022+ it's a USB port or OTA for 2023.
It confuses people trying to understand.

As an FYI not sure all 23s will do OTA yet. I have a 23 Hybrid SEL convenience. It says update available like it can do OTA but then it asks for media. I did the download on my computer to a properly formatted USB instead. It worked fine though took close to an hour. I really like the radio update with the album art work and better station ID. I was not quite old enough to appreciate the vacuum tube look of the original radio display

Thinking about it, with the problems they had and reissuing the update, I wonder if the next one will be available OTA for you... Only the Shadow knows.
