It could be a long time before I see my Limited PHEV

I sent out an e-mail blast last night to a bunch of Hyundai dealers asking them to let me know if the car I want pops up in their allocation. I received this response from a dealer in New York.

Good morning. Unfortunately, I am unable to assist you with a Tucson PHEV. We have received 3 total Tucson PHEV’s to date and still have 28 pre-order reservations that have not even been picked up for build yet. As a result, we have stopped taking Tucson PHEV Orders. I apologize for this, but at the current rate that we have been receiving them, it will be a very long time before all of the orders that we currently have are fulfilled.

Do you have an order already in or just hoping a dealer ends up getting unclaimed stock?

Yes.

I've had a deposit in with a dealer since early October. I figured I would do the e-mail blast just in case the car I wanted popped into somebody's allocation and wasn't pre-sold.

It's not really clear to me if "order" means anything in the U.S. In Canada the factory sends periodic e-mails to the buyers telling them that they are now number xxx in line.

That sounds very frustrating! Toyota Canada does an allocation system for their vehicles. My husband “ordered” a truck back in July and our dealer finally got an allocation assigned to our order at the end of December with expected delivery in mid April, so I completely understand the frustration of waiting to see if and when you will get your vehicle.

Hyundai Canada system makes so much more sense to me.
