Hi, just wanted to chime in. I had driven my car for over 6,400 miles now and yes, the first 500 miles it did the jerkiness/ hard up/down shift. With many visits to service and told that they can't replicate the issue in conjunction with Hyundai customer care case manager then been driven the car for 5,100 miles and one day it just stopped and decided to drive normal. Apparently from many research and many articles of an 8 speed automatic transmission that it is always going to be the case on where the transmission is going to hunt for that gear every shift especially during low speed. You and every new owner will have to dread the first 5,100 miles of the hard slamming, up shift/down shift. The hard up shift down shift is much worse in Smart mode than normal mode because of the low rpm.

Thanks for the info. What trim is yours? Does the jerkiness happen more often while you brake the car? I always thought it's more of a hybrid issue... Did you observe any error messages returned from your car?
No error message at all, my trim level is a non-hybrid SEL Convenience w/ premium package. From what I've been told from the service tech. the transmission is in a learning mode until it learns your driving habit. Yes, the jerkiness will occur during braking especially coming to a red light/stop sign. Also it always occur during going up a hill road as well as driving between 29-33 mph and slowing down between 5-3 mph.
As long as the car doesn't show any error message, not much anyone can do except ride it out, wait and see.
