My now sadly deceased 17 yr-old Tucson was definitely meant to be my car! I have an Irish first and last name and the car was a gorgeous shade of green called "Alpine Frost" [green has always been my favorite color]! When I first went car shopping it was St Patrick's Day of 2005, a blessed holiday for my people. And then when I found out that the VIN # started with my own first initials, I was almost sold on the spot. However, I did snap out of my dreamstate and concentrated on the auto itself before making a decision [at least that's the way I tell it]. Being a female of a certain age, I named her "Hunny" and we set off on a great relationship! She ran great and looked terrific --- people always commented on that color. Wonder why the Alpine Frost hue was scrapped by Hyundai? And, although I live in South Bend, Indiana, which is gifted with Chicago's lake effect snow on a regular basis, she had nary a rust spot! She did have a few dents [as do I] that she picked up on her many travels, but what a great car! Until January 24 this year when I was crashed into and, yes, just a few miles from my house.
I could have cried, but I didn't, and the next day I went back to the Gurley-Leep dealership where I first met "Hunny". And what did I get? A glacier white [no Alpine Frost available anymore] 2022 Tucson Limited! Wow, what a vehicle! Thankfully I am an oldie that loves electronic inventiveness --- which is a good thing because this car is goody-laden! And it is so comfortable [Hunny's seats were a bit saggy - yes, so am I] and rides so smoothly that I am amazed. The mileage could have surprised me by being a bit better, but my salesperson introduced me to their mechanic who said that after a breaking in period, it would improve. Adventure is in my future!
Here's my only question: is my lovely panoramic sunroof supposed to "auto-close" when I shut down the cabin of this spaceship? It would be wonderful if there is a way to get it to do so. Most all of my other cars had sunroofs and all of them auto-closed so I wonder if I am missing out a setting. If it doesn't auto-close, is there a way to set an audible alert that it's been left open instead of just the flashing visible diagram on the screen? If not, it's not a game changer because this girl appears to be the car of my dreams. Still bouncing names around for her. Close to christening her "Toots", but if anyone wants to offer a catchier moniker, let me know.
