Hey all. When picking up our new ride, the business manager (surprisingly) did not try to sell me rust proofing due to it being a hybrid. Anyone else heard this? Makes sense in that the rust proofing might interfere with the wiring/components but I'm a bit concerned about how the vehicle will age, particularly since I'm near the Atlantic. Thoughts?

I probably would not get rust proofing. I would need someone I trust to tell me it was needed in an area where salt is extensively used for many months then I might.
The way cars are built now I don't see the need. In addition, it was found sometimes the rubber type of undercoating actually trapped moisture and helped to advance rust. The oil type applied in that respect was better.

I used Krown rust proofing on my hybrid as it is a high dielectric and won’t damage electrical components. You don’t want to use a thick tar based system as it traps moisture and blocks hv cables and components. If you use Krown, you would need to first spray any soft rubber with silicone spray and temporarily remove the rubber seal under the front of the hood to prevent the oil from soaking in and destroying the soft rubber.
