Piano black dash “ dust magnets”

Has anyone tried wiping them with laundry fabric softener sheets ? They usually work to remove the static cling, might keep the dash from attracting so much dust.

Put a coat of Ceramic Hybrid wax on it, using microfiber cloth. That will do a few things.
1. Dust will be more likely to not stick
2. When you do wipe it to keep clean (using a microfiber cloth) you won't scratch it. And most times just a little pressure will clean it. Very much like a good wax and sealant on the car's paint.
3. Fingerprints may not show up as much and will come off quicker.

I'd bet fabric softener sheets are too course and would put little scratches the surface. Don't know if the softener would leave a residue that would make you wipe hard to remove?

It doesn't attract dust, but being black, I believe just shows up more , which in the long run keeps your car cleaner. It probably holds less dust than most textured surfaces. Just because you don't see the dust doesn't mean its not there. If it was glossy medium gray, the dust would be far less noticeable. I keep a microfiber towel in the side console compartment and it takes about 10 seconds to clean.

I bought a large box of dryer sheets in anticipation of using them on the screens etc. Then I read that the chemicals in the sheets, as well as the texture (as Tampa8 suggested) could scratch the screen. For sale, one box of dryer sheets as we now use those funny little balls in our dryer.

You could still use the dryer sheets. Just put them under the front seats. Voila! Car freshener! And no static cling!
I use two different products to help with this.

CarPro InnerQD to clean the interior, including the navigation. This lasts about a week or two and helps kill the static.
CarPro Pearl is used to make everything look nice, and help protect against UV. It can be used on the interior, tires, exterior trim, engine bay, etc. It needs to be diluted differently depending on where you use it.
