There I was, Googling a pic of the rear end of a Portofino Gray Tucson and up popped this thread. I'm not a member of many forums for time reasons, but I am a member of this one. Bought in Nov '22 used with 264 miles on her. First thing was to get some new speakers and a sub. The stock audio on this was super muddy. Then I did a simple pinstripe, ceramic sealed the paint, Cerakoted all the trim and conditioned the wheels. I wanted to give it the best chance I could to keep it the way it looked when I bought it. It actually looks and sounds better now, but we'll see how it does over time. :cool:

Well just caught this and nice to have our own private thread for one of the 'rare'er colors it seems.
When anyone wants to look at pics of my cars, this is what I'll usually show them first: :cool:

But this one was during the overcast week we got it home and I finally grew tired waiting on sunshine.

I'm still struck how attractive the color is for my wife's taste, and considering we never saw that color in person at 4 dealerships visited except for one - and that was at night in their garishly lit lot. I like how that one color works perfectly to 'disappear' the plastic aprons and fascias.
And I'm reminded to include that BBall backstop in the Spring powerwarshing.

Nice distinctive yet restrained personalizing. I'm interested in your, "and conditioned the wheels". What product or process was that, as so often the clearcote on wheels gets eaten into by salt and the elements. And I'll look into the cerakote - so I take it that's just for the plastic? Your apron looks rather shiny.
Nice car. I don't see any around my area (East of Sacramento). Maybe one in the past 4 months.
Jury is still out on the wheel conditioning. It is actually a ceramic tire dressing. I did take it out yesterday for a short jaunt (2-3 miles) to the store in a torrential downpour. I was in the store for about a hour and then back home in the garage. The tires look exactly the same as they did to me. We don't have snow at our level, so it hasn't been introduced to salt (thankfully). This is the product;
The process was simple enough. I washed/dried them, then cleaned again using 3:1 water to isopropyl mix. I made sure they were dry and sprayed 3-4 shots of the tire dressing on em. I used this to spread the tire dressing;

I like that they are a matte finish and dirt and crap doesn't seem to be very attracted to it. Everyone know what Armour All does and I am not a fan either. So far with very limited exposure, looks good, feels good, but has only seen a mild environment. Can't comment about a harsh one, much less a salt environment. If you do it, I'd love to hear and see how that works out.

Nice, simple pinstriping. Paint or decal? Ceramic coated paint? New to me.
I think you are talking about the trim coat that when applied went on like paint (wet and then dried to a glossy kind of finish) . It comes in 10 packets each with something like a wet wipe. It probably took 4 of them do do the exterior trim.
Here is the product;
I put it on probably early December. It still looks like it did then, but it's in the garage most of the time. I bought the car in Nov and I have about 1800 miles on it.
It is important to clean the trim well and get rid of any kind of oil from the trim first, then you just wipe it on. The car was clean and I cleaned the trim again with 3:1 (Water : Isopropyl). I tried it on that plastic cover under the hood first (test it first in a place inconspicuous). I cleaned the areas, masked off areas so I would get it on the cars paint and coated all the trim. I expect time to tell whether that was a good or bad idea, but looks good, seems to keep a lot of the dirt off and is very easy to clean off whatever does stick to it.

Thanks, I wasn't certain what you meant. I really like the pinstripe. Does it go all the way around the rear of the car? Is it paint or decal? Did you do it yourself? Did you coat it with something to protect it from getting rubbed off?
Yes, it wraps around the back. It was a thicker pin stripe at 0.250", but I had mocked it up with a similar width and I liked that width. I found it on Amazon and it looked the right color red. I got like 150 ft of the stuff for about $15. It's not the best pin striping, I am sure, but it worked exactly as I had hoped. No sign of anything coming apart, there was a lot of little red hairs coming off the edges, which tells you its not great, but the glue seemed fine. Those red hairs were easy to pluck off. I think that happens in the width cutting process.
It was coated when I used the Cerakote Rapid Ceramic Paint Sealant Kit , but other than that I figured that if it fades in the sun or starts coming off I'd just look for a better material and do it again. It literally took about a half hour is all.

Here's the back wrap (plus the obligatory bat logo) ;);

I really like it and am going to do it to my Amazon Grey. (After considering other colors, I think red is best.)

Did you wrap the ends of the tape around the edges of the doors?

Do you notice any difference in the handling with the strut bar that you added?

As you're replying to my post, I'll offer that I have not installed any strut tie-bar to the wife's ride, neither one in the engine compartment nor one underneath. If referring to the 'arch' at the firewall, that's all it is.

There is at least one thread on here, or the 'Hyundai Forum', where a poster linked several sources of purchase options for those. They are a great option for off-roading and racing, and of course the visual attraction with the ones painted really bright colors. But they hold only marginal return for most any SUV, unless part of an overall major upgrade to the entire suspension/brake/rolling stock systems over stock.

Yes, the tape was wrapped around the edges of the doors and panel edges.
