Hi,

Does anyone know how to find out the range for the sensors? My daughter backed into a vehicle no sensors sounded. I was in the car.

Does your model have back up sensors?
Don't know about the UK, here for the gas version only the highest trim has back up parking sensors that warn. If a Hybrid all trims do. Otherwise you look at the rearview camera on the screen and your side rearview mirrors.
Other trims do have the cross traffic warning and will stop you as you pull out of a parking space if a car is coming, but not for slow speed parking in reverse with a stationary car behind you.

Was she happening to go downhill or uphill when she backed into the vehicle?

Proximity sensors don't work 100% perfectly on inclines when the other vehicle is on flat ground. Less range in that scenario, not a unique issue to Hyundai though.

Also, was she going at speed? The proximity sensors take a bit of time to register, when you're crawling it's fine, but if you're zooming in and out of a parking space (which you shouldn't be doing) there can be a bit of lag. Not unique to Hyundai either.

You are correct. I thought I had rear back up sensors but it’s just the cross traffic warning feature. I almost hit a car a couple times as well thinking I had them like my last car. I asked the dealer about it when I went in for my first oil change and they said there are no sensors. So just the cross traffic. He thinks since I have the Hybrid sound they removed the sensors because that would be another sound!?! Who cares. It would stop me from hitting something. No clue.

Lol at dealers giving out BS information.

The proximity sensor feature depends on trim level, nothing to do with hybrid sound or not.

"...removed the sensors because that would be another sound..." Seriously? Where do they get these dealership employees? I swear they just make stuff up so they won't look as ignorant as they are about the technical details of the products they're selling. Are they really afraid to say they don't know, or too lazy to find the right answers? From what I can tell, the only trim with sensors all around (those little quarter-sized circles) is the Limited. For the others, the equipment appears to consist of backup camera, blind spot alert, and cross traffic alert, which are becoming standard safety features on many vehicles.

I'm so grateful for the excellent dealership I've used for years, and a service manager who never says stupid stuff.
