Seat Belt Alert Defeat

I HATE the seat belt alert. I didn't mind a five second beep on my Malibu, but this thing persists until passenger and driver put their seat belts on. What an aggravation. (I am the passenger, and my wife keeps unbuckling my permanently latched belt buckle (which I just sit on, painlessly).
Can I just shove a piece of metal in the bracket? Or are there two wires to cross? There is apparently no s/w switch to limit the length of the alert.

Aggravating as hell.

It is a universal seat belt tongue without a belt.
