Snow Tires/winter wheels on Plug In Limited

Just an FYI for others who may be interested in snow tires and winter wheels on a plug in limited. I usually get snow tires & wheels, which works out cheaper over time. The regional tire dealer does the changeover for free, so I avoid the annual fees for switching tires, balancing, stems and TPMS sensor rebuild. The winter combo was an 18" wheel and a 235/60 R18T General Artic 12. This is the same circumference as the oem 19" wheel/tire but less expensive. The other issue was that the dealer was unable to synch the generic TPMS sensors so I had to get the OEM Hyundai sensors. I ordered from wholesalehyundaiparts.com.

Does Hyundai provide a recommended wheel and tire size?

FYI, on my HEV the dealer told me the recommended winter fitment was 235/65R17 (OEM size was 235/55R19); not sure what you’d be told if you contacted Hyundai Auto Canada directly.

I think there are various combinations that could work. A reduction from the 19” wheel size saves some $. Not the subject matter expert, but I think the smaller wheel/larger tire sidewall is better for winter tires. The tire dealer calculated a winter wheel/tire combo to yield the same overall diameter as the OEM 19” wheel/tire so the speed and odometer readings were accurate.

Thanks.
The 17" OEM wheel for the upcoming 2023 Kia Sportage (below) has a very similar look to the 19" Tucson wheel. I'm hoping to get the Kia one to use for winters, depending on the cost. Not sure what the width is, but I'm guessing it'll be similar to the 17" wheel on the Tucson given they're on the same platform.

Not as nice as the OEM 19”, but this aftermarket 18”+snow tire will do until spring.

For winter, I actually opted to keep a 19” fitment on steel wheels and now after running them for 2 months, have no regrets. Bought my BIizzak DM-V2 tires from Costco which had the same price for 18” & 19”, with 17” only about $80 total savings. TPMS sensors from the dealer were only $150 CAD for the set and self-detected after installation without any configuration.
7” wide or 7.5”?
I'm not sure. Haven't been able to find that information. Not even for the Tucson.

Just wondered because my dealer had actually suggested a 17 x 7 wheel, and had I gone to a 17" solution, I would have at least stuck with a 7.5" wheel width for better handling.
I had Michelin CrossClimate 2's installed on the OEM 19" wheels and have been extremely pleased with them so far.

i've been driving the last 2 months of winter (alberta canada) on the stock All-Season tires.I think they are Roadian GTX. They have performed surprisingly well in the snow in its first year.
