Tucson gloss heater controls scratches.

I posted something similar over at Hyundai forums but I thought I’d try my posting over hear as well. My Tucson was delivered with some fine scratches on the heater controls. I saw this on day three when I was outside on a brighter day. I found pictures of the insides of the car that the salesmen sent me when car was delivered and this mark could be seen in pictures. I showed the dealer the marks but I don’t think they are going to do anything about them since I did not see them after I picked up the car. I’m curious how everyone’s controls are holding up? Are they going to get scratched up anyways from day to day use? I don’t want to make a big deal out of this to the dealer if it’s just going to get all scratched up anyways but paying over msrp for a new car with scratches gets to me.

Has the plastic film been removed? In the pictures it almost looks like it is still attached but it could just be the way the pics look. If the film has been removed and they delivered with that scratch, I'd be demanding them replace the unit as that is unacceptable. To me, it's not much different than delivering with a scratch on the door paint. Sure, maybe you will eventually get one but the car should be delivered flawless if it's brand new.

Edit: reason I mentioned the plastic film is my dealer delivered with all the protective films still attached to avoid any prints or damage by the dealer.

It had all the plastic on the black trim but with the controls it’s not completely covered. The scratch was just below were the film covered. I did not see it till a couple days later when I removed it all.

I guess it comes down to whether you want to fight with the dealership on this one. Not sure if there is any way to repair it without replacing it. Over time you will likely get some small scratches on the display. I know it would drive me nuts knowing I didn't make those scratches but it's tough for the dealer to claim warranty if it cannot be proven that it was delivered that way (even though it was) unless you catch it on delivery day.

Yeah it does not look horrible. From driver seat it’s really hard to see light has to hit it right but from passenger seat it’s much easier to see. It does bother me knowing it was there and not caused by me. The picture with the white protector was a picture before I even saw it so I know it was not caused by me. It may be able to be polished out but it could also make it look worst so I’m not willing to try. The dealer said they would try to get it covered under warranty but he thinks they will reject it. I sent Hyundai Canada customer support a email explaining what happened to see if they can get it pushed though. I’ll try my best to get it covered but I don’t think it’s worth causing to much of a fuss. It just sucks it’s kind of ruined the fun of getting a new car. Not to mention I paid 2500 over msrp.

Yea mine had some tiny scratches you can see when the sun hits it. Another thing that is driving me crazy is my car has less than 900 miles on it and has no new car smell at all!!! I traded in my 21 Kona with 1200 miles and it still had the new car smell. Anyone else noticing this?

My wife commented on the lack of new car smell in our 6 day old PHEV. She was thinking of getting a”new car smell” air freshener.

I’m good friends with the GM I bought my car from I’m going to ask him if this is something Hyundai is doing. That’s part of getting a new car I love that smell.

Mine definitely has the new car small. Non-hybrid Limited. My wife just commented today about it. It's 3 months old BTW
