Hello everyone.

I recently got my 2022 Tucson Hybrid. The tires size for this is vehicle is 235/55R 19.
I currently have a set of winter tires size 225/60 17 that I used for my old 2019 Tucson.

Can the 225/60 17 winter tires be used for my 2022 Tucson or do I need a new set of winter tires?
Thanks in advance.

Cheers

Welcome new member.

Those winter tires you have for the 2019 Tucson will not fit.

The rims on the 22 Tucson are 19 inch and the winter tires you have are for 17 inch rims.

The circumference will be a little short, so your speedometer will be a couple kilometer more then what you will be doing. Wear them out but buy the 235/65/17 then you'll be ok. Here a link to a calculator for tire rim. You'll have softer ride in winter, which is OK

Hello,

You are exactly in same shoes as mine. My old CRV has 235/65/R17 Winter tires. You can certainly use the old tires (225/60 17) but the width and sidewall height is a bit lesser, It might decrease your ground clearance by another 5 MM.

As @frankmar mentioned, on the 17 rims if you use the 235/65 tires then it would be a perfect fit. Even the Preferred and Preferred AWD Tucson models come with 235/65 R17 tires to accommodate the uniform ground clearance across all models.

In simple math, if the Diameter of the rim increases by one size decrease the side wall size by 5 MM and if the rim size decrases the by one size increase the side wall height by 5 MM.
Product Font Screenshot Parallel Number

Preferred Model - 235/65 R17
Luxury / Ultimate Model - 235/55 R19 (as rim size increased by 2 the side wall size decreased by 10).

Cheers..!!
