I have an iPhone 13 pro and a 2022 Tucson limited. Anytime I try and use the wireless charger, The charging light on the dash, turns on. The phone thinks it is charging. However, my battery percentage does not increase regardless of how long it is on the charger. It also isn't an issue with the phone being too hot to charge, nor is it an issue with the phone having issues using wireless charging pads. My phone works well with the charging pad in my home and office. When I check the "battery" page in the iPhone settings, it also shows that it was connected to the charger. However, it shows as the charging was paused and I don't know why.

I don't get errors/notifications about temperatures. I have turned off "optimized charging." I have tried placing the phone in different positions on the charging mat. I have also rebooted my phone. I have tried charging the phone at various batty levels and for varying lengths of time. I even tried using my brother's iPhone 14 and it has the same issue. Wireless charging is turned on in the setting for the car.

Does anyone else have any ideas or have a similar issue? One thing I have noticed is that the charging pad has perforations to allow for airflow. However, I have never heard a fan or noticed any forced air flow. Is there supposed to be a fan for the charging pad?

Some suggestions. Placement for my Samsung is a little finicky, I see online it is even more so for Iphone. I see some have problems because the camera bump is high enough to cause the phone to barely make enough contact.

If it is in a case see if it works without it

What this one is saying the Iphone sits too far down, place something at the bottom to make sit a little more towards the top.
(1) 2022 Santa Fe Wireless Charging Problem : Hyundai (reddit.com)
"Drop a rolled piece of paper at the bottom so that you're phone sits a little higher on the charger. Worked for my wife. We have the 2022 Santa Fe and she has the 13 pro max. Hope this helps!"

My Samsung does the same thing around town.
I drove for a few hours straight and did get more battery but not much.

I do believe I've come upon the perfect 'First World Problem of the Week'. Neither wife's phone nor mine have wireless charging. But they both make phone calls just fine, so at least there's that.

 Seriously, I'll be busting a move sometime here soon to replace hers with some fancy new rose colored 7-camera wonder, and will be mindful of the issue and possible fixes here.

Are you running wireless carplay?
The battery drains faster than the wireless charger can charge
I am via a wireless adapter. The Limitted doesn't come with wireless built in to the Tucson for some silly reason. The adpater is plugged in to the USB port and I have made sure the adpater or it's cord, isn't near the charger. I am also not using a case on my Iphone. I did have some luck positioning the phone so the camera bump kind of sits above the charger area yesterday. However, I ran in to some over heat issues when I tired it again today. Thanks Tampa 8 for the suggestion. I am going to keep trying to find a workable soultion on my evening commute home.

Mine as well as many other's phones also get very warm/hot. For me it works very well unless I am also using Android Auto, maybe streaming music etc. Then it's just too much and charger can not keep up or barely so.

I was thinking about this. I have not tried but maybe it isn't the fault of the charger. Would the same happen if you brought a wireless charger from the house into the car and tried charging the phone while using Android auto and whatever else?

I have two differnt wireless chargers (Home and office). I don't even notice any change in the charge rate when I am using my phone to stream music while charging. I have also never had any temperature issues either. It is only using the wireless charger in the car that I have any issue with for some reason.

I don't have any problem in the house etiher - however I do notice a slight increase in warmth if I stream while on a wireless charger, minor.
My point however is Android Auto is demanding and we aren't streaming constant maps and traffic info etc in the house.
It's using data, streaming maps, using GPS, Bluetooth and a couple other things in the background and that's not even including if you stream music at the same time.
When I get a chance I'll have to try it but my question still is if you bring a wireless charger from the house into the car, power it from the power USB, using Android Auto will it heat up, will it have trouble keeping it fully charged?

Samsung has issued a statement on it.
"Reports of using Android Auto and overheating is due to other apps and GPS services running in the background when connected to Android Auto. If you are charging your phone wirelessly due to Android auto being a resource-intensive app it could cause your device to overheat"

This must be happening in more than just the Hyundai.

I have stopped using a case until I get this figured out.

I will also give the using my home wireless charger via the USB ports to see if that changes anything.
For a reasonable test keep in mind it has to be driving for a period of time the phone normally gets hot and/or isn't keeping up charging. The maps have to be streaming and all the other data AA uses.

It's the built in wireless charger, similar problem many have if phone is stressing the cpu. I can have the phone doing enough that the wireless charger can barely keep up. He's going to try my suggestion, what if a wireless charger in the house were used in the car with everything running on the phone would that charger keep up. We don't use AA, GPS, Bluetooth, Google maps, Wireless, Data maybe streaming music all at the same time in the house.

Usually, wired charging is 2x or 3x times faster than wireless charging. It also depends on the max speed of wireless charging supported by the wireless charger and the phone. I have an S22 ultra and do not find issues - the phone will get a little warm with wireless charging. I have an SEL Conv Hybrid, hence I use wireless AA, there might not be a significant increase in battery charge, but it works fine since I know wireless charging will be slow (usually 2x to 3x times slower for me than wired charging).

As I posted Samsung issued a statement on it so I know it isn't just a Hyundai problem as they point out AA is very resource heavy.

If I use the cig lighter plug for charging or the charging USB port, the phone still gets warm but not hot, it charges normally.
I also think it's no small thing to use the wireless charger the phone has to sit flat, on rubber keeping in the heat more, and when I charge without it I have the phone not lying flat.

Well! Now come to learn what I thought was just my own 1st World Problem is now more of 'The Solution That's Worse Than The Problem'. There's a lot of valuable real estate in the console dedicated to the wireless charger, so it's pretty gratifying that even after getting new phones that space can be better used for some additional easily visible handy stowage.
We'll just have to plan our driving to allow for the 2 seconds it takes to use the plug. And to also get much faster charging.

I don't stream music in the car normally. I have tried it but have about 4800 MP3s of my own on a USB flash drive and use that for music

I used to use Sirius in the previous Sonata Hybrid and used to renew that every 5 months(at the cheapest rate) but got tired of them when they also turned on Sirius in my wife's Fusion Hybrid without authorization and the Sirius rep on the phone got kinda annoyed with me when I said I didn't authorize that and would not pay for it. I ended up canceling the lot and haven't used Sirius since.

My Pixel7 phone does charge on the inbuilt wireless charger in the Tucson but for the most part my trips are relatively short, so have not observed any heating issues. I have 10K miles on the car and it's 18 months old now. I have 4 110V Anker wireless chargers in the house so wouldn't work trying those in the car. My phone is often just sitting on the Anker charger as a stand. If the phone doesn't need a charge, then the charger is just a phone stand.
