I have just purchased a new Tuscon ultimate hybrid. I have all my music on a usb stick (100gb) I plug the stick in and the car only sees random folders. Each folder is one artist with the albums within the folders. So hierarchy Music-artist-album then songs
Is there a limit to the size the car can read? Hyundai have no idea.

I don't know the answer but many systems including phones have a limit to what they can read and more may make it not work correctly.
Try a smaller usb capacity. Also you may need to make folders simply with the songs you want, no album info? When I look at my list there are no albums info.

Someone else who has played with this much more than me may have better info.

I read somewhere (it was Hyundai documentation, but I can't think of what the docs were) that the maximum number of songs (files?) is 8000. I set mine up for 7K+ to give me some margin. I do have some that won't play. I see it pop up and it moves to the next. All of these files play on my computer and I really haven't looked into it, yet.

Yes, an old thread but did not want to start a new one. I'm a bit annoyed that my Tucson's info center's usb media player will play all songs in a folder but then will not play the next folder. It can repeat songs in the folder, replay the folder, or shuffle the songs in the folder. I did a search on this and came up with this thread on the Hyundai forum. https://www.hyundai-forums.com/threads/usb-flash-drive.698817/ My 11 year old Scion FR-S has no problem playing a folder from the same usb drive and then playing the next folder automatically. Has tech taken a step backward? I am using a 128GB exFat formatted Samsung drive with 250 mp3 folders ripped to 320kbps from my CDs or from online downloads. No way am I going to reformat and copy these back on as individual songs.
My choices, I can play the folder/album over again.

Play the song over again.

Shuffle the songs in the folder. To play another folder I have to take my eyes off the road, select List, and then select another folder.

Same flash drive in my 2013 Scion FR-S. Ok, smaller touch screen, but check out those knobs.

It will play the Chicago folder and when finished start playing the C,S,N, & Y folder, or I can pick another folder. Yes, I'm a big fan of classic rock.

Make a list of all songs, or - combine folders to each other that you would like to continue playing in addition to keeping the current folders. Or just let it play from one to the next without picking the one you want.

I know you said the Scion does it I can tell you our BMW didn't, nor Soul, nor our new Nissan or my Daughter's new Jetta can pick what folders to pay. A feature I never really gave much thought to, a nice addition but ways around it too.

NOPE, that's not going to happen. That would probably screw up the way my Scion reads them. Our 2014 Ford Escape had the same capability of playing one folder right after another. Are newer cars dropping this super convenient feature? Why would you want to mix up all your songs together and not keep them in album form???

Re read what I said.
Keep the folders you have, add combine folders and play those when you want more than one folder. Not to mention usb drives are cheap cheap cheap, get one for the Scion and one for the Tucson. Many work arounds.

I know what your saying and for me that's NOT a work around. If I have to open the List and pick another folder/album then so be it. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has complained about this. Maybe car companies will listen and bring this feature back, like more knobs on the info center.

For those who are interested in a work around in playing the next folder, if you look at what I am saying it can be done three ways.

Put the setting on play all songs in sequence,

but start in a folder not from the list of all songs. It will go to the next folder, and the next folder etc. Note it is the symbol with no other symbol on it like a lock.

There is no setting to pick out what folders you want to play in sequence that BobP wants however add a folder (or more than one) with the songs from the folders you normally like to listen to one after the other. (Add the songs you can't add a folder in a folder) Then pick that folder when you want to hear those specific songs all at once picked from various folders.

OR - number the folder names and instead of alphabetical order it will play folders in the numbered sequence you pick.

Another tip. If you want, you can play all songs in the sequence you want either all songs or within a folder. Number each song and the order will be from 1 to whatever ending number you use.
So... 1. Tiny Dancer 2. All along the Watch Tower 3. Houdini etc etc and it will play in that order.

Problem partially solved. In some of my folders/albums, i.e., Chicago, that symbol is not available, only the other 2 as previously posted. Why?? In other folders where it is, when chosen, the album will play, and then like my Scion, it will go to the next folder/album when finished and play it. The albums/artists are listed alphabetically. If I want to chose another album to play, like my Scion, I have to go to the List and pick it. Thanks for your help.

The "racetrack" symbol appears to be a toggle.

Thanks, but I'm well aware that it is a toggle touch selection for the 3 play modes. My problem was that I was not getting the
Image
mode on some folders/albums, only the other 2, see post #37. I thought at first that it maybe a problem with some folders, i.e., the way the songs were numbered or no numbers. I sort of stumbled on the fact that it's the way you select folders/albums from the List. If you select the folder/album from Files then you will get all 3 play modes.

Another example selected from Files.

If you select the folder/album from Artists you will not get the

mode, only the othe 2 play modes.

No work arounds needed. If you want to store your albums in folders go right ahead. As long as you select the folders you want to play from the List's Files and select
Image
mode it will play the album and when finished play the next, just like my Scion does.

I use an exFAT formatted flash drive in the left USB slot in my Tucson. I have a bunch of MP3s on (about 4500 in folders) that I ripped many years ago. I want to put some FLACs on that same drive also (also in folders).

I did look at one thread here that seemed to indicate that random didn't work with folders. It certainly does with my MP3s in folders.

Has anyone tried a mixture of MP3s and FLACs on the same flash drive with the drive being organized in folders and used it in random play order?

I'm certainly going to be 'Follow'-ing this one, thanks! I as well have seen posted on this forum re: the radio's not playing nice with Folders. You beat me with my fewer than 2,200 files in 101 folders. but for as little time I spend in that vehicle I have not been interested in moving or reformatting all that around.

I have used folders with MP3s in random mode for 3 years now. When I find an album I like a lot, I turn random mode off for a while. Turn it back on when I feel like it. I have no issue with that.

I wondered whether anyone had tried having folders with MP3s and also folders having FLACs and then used random mode. If NOT, then sometime soon...I will be trying it although with 4500 songs on my FD....it won't be obvious whether a FLAC will be playing along with MP3s.

BTW, I did try a single FLAC song on another exFAT formatted flash drive (USBC with a C to A adapter) and the track played just fine. So, obviously FLACs themselves are NOT an issue.

Yes, the drive just needs to be formatted as FAT32. I don't believe that NTFS can be read. I have not tried any FLAC files, but i doubt they will play.
My USBA flash drive is formatted exFAT and plays in the left USB slot under the dash. I have all MP3s on that FD. However, yesterday I tried a different FD (also exFAT) with a FLAC on it and it played fine.

Yes but with respect to the USB ports in this car, I'm annoyed about 2 things:
  1. Why are all the charging ports only USB-A, not USB-C supporting Power Delivery ... really Hyundai, in a car that's supposed to represent the epitome of Technology?!!
  2. Why ONLY a single port that supports data, even in the top trim?!! If I connect my phone for projection (AA or ACP), I can no longer play music from a USB stick. Other cars I've had including a 2008 Infiniti EX35 and my current 2016 BMW 340i have a built-in drive where I can store my music ... I'm not even asking for that, just for the other front USB port to support data!!!
OK, rant over! :ROFLMAO:

Is this just me? 🤷‍♂️
My SEL supports wireless Android and Apple Car Play, so I end up never using the right USB slot under the dash.
