Lol. Hopefully everyone understands annoying, I mean only to the extent the turn signals or back up lights are easily seen.... a little annoyed insures they are seeing it.
And I like having an annoying horn again, nice that it has potential to piss-off diptards, rather than make them laugh at how funny it sounds (Yes VW Taos, I'm talking to YOU!)

I just replaced my OEM light with these new 31mm LED'S because of the poorly lit area! Make sure you don't purchase anything over 31mm because they won't fit correctly!
Yeah, it is quite unusual they would litter the Tucson here & there w/ Halogens, especially where more lighting is needed such as the cargo area. Using Halogens where safety is concerned such as the reverse & turn signals is bizarre, especially since they use an amped up reverse warning horn w/ the hybrids. I guess they're wanting to help the hearing impaired but not concerned about poor visual aspects lol.

Actually both instances are the same, saving money. (Though it seems so little to us but all adds up over thousands of cars)
The back up alarm loudness isn't to be extra safe, they saved by having one speaker to the front and had to make it loud to meet the law on decibal level to the rear.

That is likely the case, although a few extra feet of wiring in the scheme of things (to mount the horn in the back) would seem to be minimal, but ??? And the current cost of those small LED lights are next to nothing, if I can get them for about $1-2 each I'd imagine Hyundai could source them for half of that, but ???

Our $50k Ioniq5 has the same halogen bulbs, and it's an EV!

I suspect the next generation will have LED standard, these are likely the same across their entire lineup. Remember that automotive is 5-8 years behind other industries because of the pipeline and reliability testing. It takes effort and money to advance that

But they can do this, I think a few small LEDs swapped in is well past their reliability testing window, at least you'd think it would be :)

Yep, annoying that they have to pay attention to something other than their phone texts :(

Know what's kinda sad? On the day that those new turn signals save your bacon, you'll likely not even know it. :)
The Curse Of Competence: No credit for something that doesn't happen, and often nobody knowing - including you - that something didn't happen.

Captain: Good point, sir. I ride a Honda Goldwing. I'm thankful for a thousand times somebody saw me because I'm wearing a high-vis jacket and have extra brake lights and etc. on the bike. But if someone doesn't see me, I don't end up in an accident, I end up dead. So my best defense isn't better turn signals, but rather the eyes in the "back of my head." I'm always scanning, always slowing down when people are parked next to the highway poised to pull in my lane; I could go on and on. It's a royal pain to have to ride that way, but that's the reason I've been able to do so for 55 years w/o an accident. Back on track here, I'm glad we can install some extra bright lights for safety in the Tucson.

Just a quick DIY project for those that want more cargo light but keep the OEM factory light fixtures.
Got the fixture for $10 on Ali Express, took about 10-12 days to arrive. These are over $30 + $8 shipping from Hyundai online sites. This is a factory fixture w/ Hyundai/Kia ID and part #.

~Remove folding cargo floor
~Remove spare tire if equipped or any other equipment stored in that area
~Start by removing the 2 push clips on the lower tailgate center plastic section (not on the tailgate, but the section above the bumper where the tailgate locks, between the tail and the spare tire) by prying them up w/ a small screwdriver then pulling them out.
~Remove 2 phillips screws on each side panel (one screw attaches to the cargo floor, and one attaches on the side just hidden behind those seat release handles).
~Remove the plastic shelf on each side by just popping them upward
~Pry up the center tailgate latch plate to remove it (small circle piece in the center surrounding the locking hoop)
~Using plastic pry tools (don't use metal pry tools, too easy to scratch or damage the panels and base metal) pop the center section straight up, not out, starting at one end and working toward the center. Take a look at the pics below to see the orientation of those push/pull snaps. It takes a fair amount of force to get those clips to release, try not to put much force on either end as that's thin and can crack, move a couple inches from the end to get the first pop.
~Once you get one side released work the other side from outside in.
~After center section is removed go ahead, remove the phillips screws on each side that were covered by the center strip, and remove the cargo light fixture, leave the wires hanging out of the hole. Here's a good detail for that from @garyahouse

~Pop side panels loose up the rear to that top seam, easy to pop those w/ the plastic pry tool, no need to pop out more than those back sides as you'll have plenty of room to snake the wiring through.
~On the passenger side panel get behind it and push that white insulation out of the area that will be cut for the new light. You won't want that insulation getting caught in the cutting bit. ALSO YOU NEED TO HAVE THAT INSULATION AWAY FROM NEW LIGHT PERMANENTLY AS IT GETS HOT AND DON'T WANT ANY HEAT HAZARD!!!
~For a template you can put a piece of thin cardboard behind the opening of the cargo light and trace the outline of the opening. Once you get the template you can put some blue tape on the passenger side, and trace that template to the blue tape. Put the template in the same spacing as the drivers side opening.
~Using a dremel w/ a roto bit, drill out the opening, be sure to stay to the inside of the template as you don't want to take off too much, may have to trim a bit to get it fitting proper.
~I just soldered short wires to the new fixture, covered w/ heat shrink and crimp push connectors so they can be removed if needed.
~I used quick crush splices to tap into the original fixture wires and then routed wires over to the new fixture.
~Using zip ties I routed the new wires down below to the current wires that go near the lower center of the cargo floor and up that passenger side cargo cover.
~Once you verify all is working well button it back up in reverse order. Be sure to use a pry tool to keep that rubber weather seal on top of the side and center pieces as you get them reinstalled.
~Haven't received my LED bulbs yet so don't have pics w/ that extra LED output, should really be nice and bright from both sides then!

Thanks for posting Tampa, should be working now!

Thanks for an amazing writeup. We need more guys like you around here. With all the wonderful design features of this car, you'd think Hyundai would have included this second light. This car certainly needs it.

Thanks Gary!
Well it was your post that ignited my desire to get better lighting back there, I just like that the lighting is balanced back there now and it looks like it should have come that way :)
Looking forward to getting those LED bulbs in, should be here in a couple days, might have to wear my sunglasses when I'm loading things back there lol.

I see the OP's waiting on LED bulbs. That's been my only upgrade so far, and that upgrade alone hits the mark. TWO fixtures ought to be darned 'illuminating'! o_O

And agree, v. well-detailed write-up.

Got my new 31mm LED lights, much better output, and much cooler temp, so big wins all around!!
Thanks @garyahouse for the motivation (y)
