I just purchased a 2022 Tucson limited. Mint condition! I’ve tried to get clear answers on Apple CarPlay. I previously owned an ioniq hybrid & had no issues connecting my phone. Not so with the Tucson. Apologies is advance if this has been addressed on this forum. So. Is it correct that CarPlay will not connect wirelessly on the 2022 limited without an aftermarket adapter? I’ve connected via usb but it keeps disconnecting. I have not updated the cars firmware yet so wondering if I should do that & if so will that assist in CarPlay connectivity? I’d like to connect my phone wirelessly but I’m reading conflicting information: yes I can connect wirelessly and no, I can’t. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
This is what Hyundai says about a recently published software update, supposedly for a wide range of vehicles, including 22 and 23-24 Tucsons and including the PHEVs, which only come in the configuration with nav: "You can connect Apple CarPlay and Google Android Auto wirelessly without a USB cable!"

I can't post the link to the update because this is my first post and its not allowed, apparently, but you will find it if you google "GnwBK4".

Now, I installed it in my 24 Ultimate PHEV (Canadian model similar to Limited) and it did not appear to enable wireless CarPlay, but it certainly purports to be adding that ability to vehicles that did not previously have it. I am only aware of the nav enabled Tucsons, Konas and Ioniq5/6s with that issue.

Unfortunately, no. Hyundai didn't state any 22,23 vehicles would get wireless connectivity if they have navigation. They state quite differently "New Features available after the Audio system/Map update vary by model and platform"

What they show are the models and infotainment systems that are able to accept the software update, not that they all will get all the features. It has been that way for years with updates - not all of the features are or can be applied to all the models.

It is not possible to have Tucson radio's that have Navigation do wireless until the 2025 model (In U.S.) that has a different system in it.

No doubt that particular feature would only be enabled in cars that have the required hardware. That being said, I see plenty of people stating definitively that a 24 Tucson has the hardware as I see people definitively stating the opposite.

What I find persuasive – although not definitive – is that the software update is absolutely for cars that are on the road now and required USB cables in order to use CarPlay. It is not for future vehicles. It is not for vehicles that already had wireless CarPlay.

as well, while again not definitive, it would be perverse for Hyundai to use less capable hardware in a higher end car than in a lower end version of the same vehicle.

It would be helpful if all the people purporting to have authoritative knowledge of the issue could provide some evidence to back it up

You are still not quite getting what Hyundai is saying. There are '24 cars other than the Tucson that may be able to get the update to wireless that don't have it now. That's because there are cars like the 2024 Santa Fe, '24 Kona that are a new series with the new radio that just needed the software to turn it on. When the 2025 Tucson comes out that will have wireless with navigation.

"The update will apply to several models, including the Hyundai Grandeur(Azera), Kona, Kona EV, Sonata facelift, All-new Santa Fe, IONIQ 5, Kia EV9, and Sorento facelift models equipped with the next-generation infotainment system ccNC."

What you are not quite getting is that, while the current software update may well be only for the newer ccNC infotainment systems:
!. It is pretty odd that they didn't just say the wireless was only for the 24 Kona - because that is the only ccNC car on the list;
2. This I will say with great confidence:
  • all 22-24 Tucsons have Gen5W and
  • some Tucsons (lower trim) - with the same hardware - actually have wireless CarPlay,
  • therefore all Tucsons have the necessary hardware.

You won't be getting wireless CarPlay. That feature is only available on ccNC systems, which won't come to the Tucson until the 2025 MY is available...
I'm trying to square this statement with the fact that the lower trim level Tucsons with the smaller display and no navigation built long before ccNC was introduced already have wireless CarPlay, and lots of internet posters on Reddit and elsewhere saying that the hardware in nav-equipped models is capable, but that the feature was removed due to a disagreement over whether the nav button should activate CarPlay vs the native navigation functionality. It would be nice to hear something from an authoritative source.

New owner of a CPO 2022 Hyundai Tucson Limited Hybrid:

Just wanted to share that I just updated to the latest nav sw and the wireless carplay feature did not show up.

Here's hoping that changes in the future.
It won't ever, radio not capable of it.

This has been discussed over and over and over again here. If Reddit is your source you will misinformed more than informed. That explanation is made up. Do they really think the top of the line Luxury Genesis could do wireless with navigation but Hyundai chose not to? Do they think now Hyundai has an agreement they did not before but are being denied adding to older radios with a simple update, again like a Luxury car?

The answer is no. The Navigation edition of the infotainment system can not also do wireless Carplay/Android auto, never will till the updated system in the 2025 model. A search here will bring up threads.

If you did a search on the internet you would find this below. Notice no mention of the Tucson because till 2025 it does not have the new ccNC system that can do wireless with navigation.
The cars mentioned in the link are new generation as of 2024 so have the new system now.
"Hyundai will enable wireless Android Auto and CarPlay in systems equipped with the new Connected Car Navigation Cockpit (ccNC), beginning with the new Kona and Kona EV. Additionally, the software update will ship to Hyundai Grandeur, Sonata facelift, the new Santa Fe, IONIQ 5, and Kia EV9. The new Sorento will also get the update at a later time."

Another reason, although I did not know it at the time, why I didn’t buy the top of the line Tucson Hybrid (I also hate leather seats).

When I bought my 2022 Tucson Hybrid (August 2021) it was the only Tucson Hybrid on the dealer lot. My wife’s 2016 Ford Fusion Hybrid has inbuilt navigation and Ford want $150 to update the maps. I’m glad my car uses the phone for navigation, love the wireless charging pad and wireless connection to the phone.

Wireless USB adaptors of which there are many make this a non issue for most people. No difference than built in wireless in daily use.

No Tucson has Wifi access. Guessing you mean wireless Android Auto or Carplay?
Hyundai Bluelink offers a Wi-Fi hotspot service that allows passengers to connect to the internet in their car. To use the Wi-Fi hotspot, you'll need to:
  1. Ensure you're enrolled in Bluelink
  2. Check that your free trial or paid data subscription is active
  3. Enable the hotspot in your vehicle
  4. Connect your mobile device to the vehicle's Wi-Fi hotspo
