I put in an order for a Tuscon PHEV Luxury September 1st in Gatineau and have a production date of December 2021. However, my dealer has given me lots of inconsistent info on when the delivery would be. At first they wouldn't commit to any date at all, and now they are saying 6 to 7 months after the production date (i.e. July/August 2022).

But that makes no sense based on what all of you have written, where delivery is a few months after production. It would make more sense if it was 6-7 months after the order date based on the other posters.

Can dealers get an actual estimate from Hyundai about delivery dates or are they all just making educated guesses?

Yeah, it doesn't make sense.

Usually when you have the production date, the next month will be shipping out, which usually takes 2.5 weeks on boat and the rest by rail, so maybe it take 4 to 6 weeks for transit times for boat and rail.
The Tucson is made in Alabama, USA.

No problem. I didn't know that either until I asked why it takes so long to get one, then found out the PHEV's are only built in Korea. Probably something to do with the batteries or build that they only build them there, who knows.

Must have changed then since I bought PHEV. Seems strange if they were all built in Korea, then why where there no PHEV's until about a month ago ? I drove a hyrbrid at 2 different dealerships in July. One never knows ...

I only have 250km on it so far combination of city and highway and it is getting between 2.8 and 3.2L/100km. Since the vehicle is new and I am still tinkering with the settings on it probably not the true numbers. It is great vehicle to drive. So far I have been able to just use the standard 120V charger to keep it charged but it does take between 10 and 11 hours to fully charge it. The electric range gets me to and from work everyday so since I got it almost a week ago I have not had to put any gas in it and it is reading 92% full. So not too bad.

So i was inquiring about a Tuscon that appears on a dealer site that is as inventory, but it was eventually sold.

Then this sales rep told me that they have a ultimate in different color, that can be delivered asap, but with a "Priority Placement fee"

Is this guy saying that the dealer has some stock and who ever is willing to pay more, gets to buy it?

Do you know how much is this fee? He wants my ID to proceed further.

BTW, this dealer is different from the one I placed my order.

Wtf!! So all the factory order holders are going to get shafted for dealer greed?

I had 2 orders placed with different dealers just to be sure I would get one. The dealers did not know about each other. I paid the $500 deposit for both of them. The one dealer would not honor the pricing that was agreed upon when I placed the factory order and when the vehicle came in he jacked the price up on the vehicle and dropped the price of my trade. If I did not agree to the price he told me there were 25 other people that would buy it. I walked away as I was not going to be strong armed by a dealer. I did get my $500 back. The dealer then texted me that nite and told me the vehicle was sold just to be an asshole about me not buying it. The second dealer honored the price I an purchased it from them.

In my opinion, from what I was told, the only way the dealers could get PHEV's intiailly was if somone factory ordered one. I think the first dealer had no intention of every selling to me at the agreed upon price but rather used me to get a vehicle into the dealership so they could jack up the price.

Which such a limited supply of PHEV's, they pretty much can do what they. If you really really want one, you are theiry mercy.

I don't agree with gouging people to make a dollar and that is why the whole car buying experience for most people is something they dread.

Bad karma for those greedy dealers. I was very fortunate, here in the US, to get a PHEV Limited for sticker price +$175 “document” fee. Other dealers are charging $1,000-$4,000 over sticker. When I picked it up yesterday, the sales manager said he had about 40 calls in the few days after it posted on his inventory.

The one dealer I ended up buyhing the factory order from had to put it in the back of their lot as the day I was coming to get it (after the signed deal was done) they had people offering to pay over what I paid for it. That is crazy.

I paid sticker price and have a firm signed deal for a factory order and firm price for my trade. No extras. While I wait I'm putting miles on "their" car vs the new one. Not my fault if it takes them 6 months to get my new car.

Hmm, that "Priority Placement Fee" doesn't sit well with me.

I though dealers are not supposed to charge more than the sticker price right? as stated on OMVIC site? or is it all in one pricing.

So some sneaky dealers will use this fee as a way to jack up their prices then.

I am going to call up Hyundia Canada to ask about this "fee"

Was the first dealer asking for above MSRP afterwards?
Can I ask which dealership this is, or their general location?

Thanks.
