Plug ins never made sense to me. Might as well go full elect. Love my standard hybrid.
I would've preferred full electric.
But I'm leasing my PHEV as a company tax deduction/expense. There's no way I could fully deduct an EV.

So essentially, a PHEV is a poor man's EV.

There's also only 1 viable EV option for a compact SUV and that's a Tesla Model Y. Not everyone likes them though.

Canada driver here. I ordered my Amazon Grey PHEV in Jan 2024 and got it available in April! Just a 3 months of waiting! Interestingly I didn't get any email from Hyundai Canada or the dealership. I occasionally check on dealership's website for new vehicle in inventory and found that they had 2 new Amazon Grey with VIN in stock, then I called them to check my order status, they said hey your Tucson is available soon. I copied the VIN from web, it turned out one of the in stock Tucson was actually mine! So far in a few days of driving in full EV mode, I love my Tucson PHEV!

I ordered my PHEV around Mar 2022 and in Oct 22 they received a HEV in the right colour (red)and offered it to us. I took it as they had no idea on the delivery of the PHEV. I left the PHEV on order as I wanted the light interior and they also said that it would likely be a straight across trade after the PHEV gov. rebates. I finally got the call a couple weeks ago and went in but they dropped a $15,000 price difference on me. I ended up walking. Two year wait and they wanted to make another bunch of money on me. I already overpaid for the HEV as they added a markup and their regular dealer added crap as it was "in stock". They made good money on my trade in (and sold in a week) and on the HEV and then wanted to make more on the HEV trade in,(low offer as they "aren't selling") the PHEV and extended warranty. I got the ext warranty dropped but still 10K difference. our HEV is mint with 12,000 klms on it. With the kilometres we put on we could never justify the difference.

After waiting 2 years I was hoping for further delays. If it had been a 2025 it would have been time for more negotiation. I like the 2025's knobs , HUD and grille better. $10k for basically the same car that would be "old style" come the fall and with only a couple litres per 100k better mileage didn't seem like much of a deal.

I ordered a Tucson Trend in blue October 2023 and only now, April 23, 2024 am I getting it. Ridiculous! Made in Korea vs. US get built in Alabama. I have been complaining for a wh but i seems the dealer has no pull. I found another dealer with 8 on their lot; mine? Just one for demo use. Not pleased!

I have not seen any different problems built in Korea or U.S. so not sure there is a meaning to the difference? If there is a dealer with 8 available and one that you want why not buy it there?

It appears to be inefficient to produce these vehicles in Korea just on the transportation to Canada is the point. As far as my order, it involved a trade-in at the time of ordering so I couldn’t go to another dealer. The point I am making here is my dealer was not getting the supply like other area dealers were getting. And you quoted a favourable time frame to get your vehicle versus my experience.

I didn't quote any time frame for my vehicle. You said there was a dealer with 8 on the lot. I have to say I never heard of trading in a car with no new car to buy for months and months and being tied to that.
As for coming from Korea, simple answer. People would be waiting even longer for a PHEV if it only came from Alabama where they make the HEV and ICE also.

I think you may be mistaken about the US Tucson HEVs being built in Alabama. Every '24 Tucson Hybrid I saw while shopping, including the one that I ultimately bought, was made in Ulsan, Korea.

You are very possibly correct, the Santa Fe HEV is built there I was thinking both were.
